I just realized that I'm comming up on 32,000 miles with the original fuel filter. How long should these things last? Perhaps I should either change it or just buy a spare in case.

Mine lasted 55k miles. Then it plugged on the road. Good thing I was carrying a spare, but changing it out in 50mph winds is no fun!

I did some nosing around and it seems that a Wix filter goes for about $23.00......does that seem about right?

I changed mine at 47k - no symptoms just decided to change it. In the future I'll be changing it every 25k.

PM is on your schedule, nice sunny day not too cold or too hot.

Run it until it clogs up. Weather -20f with a -45f wind chill, plastic plugs snap and break, fingers are frozen even through the gloves, you drop the wrench and have to try to knock it out with a snow brush, filter is stuck and you have to re hang it and grab the oil filter pliers to get it off, you drop the wrench again you pick it up, the duct tape won't stick to the plug you broke trying to get it off to get to the filter. You get it done and find the plug you broke is on back order, so you go back out and rig up a bunch of tie straps to hold the plug in so it does not fall out and set off the CEL.

Doesn't the price of the filter sound cheap and doesn't that sunny day sound nice?

Though so. :D

I changed mine at 25K. Cut it open and it looked fine. Probably could have ran a lifetime. Depends on where you buy your fuel I think.

My Wife has junk in my garage with AC since it takes up less space to hang it in the window instead of piled on the floor. Besides, I work outside and get along with the weather most of the year.
