Keep in mind 2006 KJ had to add spacers to the CRD coils to get his lift back. The CRD frankenlift is a 2" lift while the frankenlift is a 2.5" lift.

i didnt add any spacers besides the frankenlift ones that came in my gasser frankenlift.. just replaced the 927HD with 970 CRD HD springs. i realllllly like this set up and would suggest it to anyone who has a lil extra weight up front

Just so I can open another hornets nest... how many of you guys that got franky, got the new uca's too? how many are running stock? I know its a "good" idea but, since I'm trying to keep this as cheap as possible so the wife will say yes, will the car explode on the highway if I don't get them? lol

So why would you upgrade to them after 70'000 miles, were yours wearing out at that point, or just felt the need to upgrade?

You've been on this site for about a year now, and have 369 posts. Most of which, are questions such as the one you just posted, pertaining to the varrious lift kits you consider buying every other month. Each time you have asked, everything has been laid out in plain English, and in detail, as to the cheapest and best way to go, yet here you are again, still asking.

Worst case of memory loss I've ever seen!

About the only thing likely to explode, is your brain from thinking up redundat questions that have already been brought up and explained over and over.

He is from Canada.... :-)r

Ok here we lay it out:

OME 790: HD CRD springs. NOT good for a stock KJ. (unless it's a 2.8 CRD)

OME 927: H/D gasser / medium CRD spring. Good springs, many people run them. With or without a bumper / winch.

So If you want a wife friendly budget start with the Rancho / OME frankenlift.

You'll be happy.

Then whenever you'd like or whenever your OEM UBJ's wear out you get the JBA UCA's.

You should know by now what al that means. :D

If I were you guys I wouldn't even consider the CRD springs. I have the gasser HD coils and I wish I would have gotten the medium ones now because the HD's are just too stiff for a stock bumper, and it'll be a while before I get a bumper and wench. Plus the HD's lift my front end so high that there is hardly any room for droop, so my UCA's hit my spring bumpstops all the time. If you plan on getting a bumper and wench soon after the lift, then I would suggest just getting the HD coils. That's my experience with the franky anyway, maybe someone else has had better results with HD coils and a tupperware bumper.

you are the first I have heard say that they wish they would have gotten the MD. I would just stick with the HD, when I add a winch I dont plan on changing out coils, Ill just have to add a little something to make up for it, but no big deal.

+1
My KJ is freaking awesome with the OME HD's holding up the front

Handles like a BMW X5 that somebody yanked the rear swaybar out of and put mud tires on
rides like a...uh...a Jeep should!
tackles rough pavement and dirt roads without beating you up

Also, stock UCAs, no alignment issues to speak of ('cept for the bent pass side LCA...), UBJs are in good shape, only thing I can tell is the inner tie rod ends have a TINY bit of play...but it DOES have 122,000 HARD miles on it...

Course, then again, maybe it's all that added weight of the front hitch that makes the OME HD ride bearable ;)

All this being said, I DO have the old, red Skyjacker coils out back...so I can't comment on OME HDs in the rear

Do you have a franky or just OME HD's up front. I'm thinking of yanking the spacer up front that came with the franky and replacing it with my stock iso. I could stand to lose an inch up front, I think that would make it ride better.

Keeping the H.D. springs and removing the spacer would undoubtedly releave the added spring tension stiffness, thus giving you a better ride. Reinstall the stock shockplate also. Then later if you decide you want a little more height, you can always add a 3/8'' clevis lift to it.

Haha I know...
Well Obi I havn't got a lift yet. I am in the same general area as you. I'd just dish out the cash for a good lift now, instead of worring about it down the road.
When I got to get mine, I just going to go all out and prob get the 4" mention on the lift sticky. Way I see it, is to stop pissin around and do it right the first time.
If its a cash issue, I'd save. Thats what I am doing now

KJ04 nailed it................... I remember when ObiHann was complaining about the cost of the Franky and was looking at the daystar. Now he’s looking at the A-arms. What will be next?     Although, I’m horribly guilty when it comes to deciding on tires and wheels.

Hey, I'm still complaining about the cost of a franky, and the thought of uca's is frigging annoying, but hey, its part of it. If ive learned anything, its do it right the first time. My question about a-arms was mainly to make sure I would be safe without them, cause I dont think I could pull the franky and uca's all this year. Given the way things are right now, I'm pretty lucky that I might be getting the franky... might....
