Went to a "wheelin" class yesterday and did some things I never thought I'd do. I woulda posted here but it was a sign up class for the VJC forum, so I didn't wanna step on anyone's toes :) As you can see I got pushed a couple of times. The thing wouldn't get traction because I don't have a lift and 2 of the wheels were hanging (no articulation). Amazing day though, and I came out with minimal carnage. Broke the license plate holder and a small scratch in the paint on the passenger rocker panel. All the credit goes to my spotter who guided me through this mess! Never woulda made it without him :)

Good job Randy! So was that the '101' class that Lance and the gang were putting on?

Great shots, looks like fun! I wish there was something like that in my area.

Yeah! Little rough for a 101 class. The pictures don't do it any justice

Doesn't it feel great to have that first scratch out of the way? Now you can have fun without worrying! 8)

It's actually the 2nd time I've scratched it. I put a nice dent in the rocker panel a month or so ago wheelin a wash in Wickenburg. I was gonna get skids and rock sliders first, but I really think I'm just gonna get a lift first, then deal with the rest later.

My suggestion... get the skids first, join us on some runs and save up for the lift. You'll do okay at stock height with full skids on a lot of trails.

If I may voice an opinion... yea, pics never do a trail justice and that was a tad tough for a 101 course, especially with no skids.

Great job and great pics, thanks for posting them. And yes I believe we could call you brave considering your Libby is still bone stock.

The very first trail I ever did was following an 89 YJ with 4" of lift and 33's. He didn't think I was brave, he thought I was insane

I've only been wheelin for three years but I love it when a "first timer" joins us. They're always amazed what their "Trail Rated" Jeep can do. With a little experience you can do alot with a stock Jeep and not spend thousands of dollars on modifications.

That's one wicked TJ  , I like!

Hmm, well the skids aren't that spensive so maybe that is a better route. Who knows. It's funny the worst thing about the trail was not getting traction. I scraped the bottom but only on the "frame" rails, nothing in the middle. We were driving over cracks mostly so that helped.

LibertyFever,
Thanks :) I'd like to say those aren't my pictures, so I can't take credit for taking them. I also really liked the big TJ. That thing was a beast.

oldhockeyvb,
It was North of Phoenix. I'd be happy to "lead" a group up there someday, but not until I get a lift

X2 X3 X4 X5 X6 X7...... Doing trails like that without skids you are going to tear up your fuel tank or your drive line. the guys are correct, most of the trails that the LOST groups do are passable with just decent tires and skids....

x8 skids are way better investment. You can make it threw an area without lift with skids without hurting anything, but if you get the lift you can still break lots of stuff if you do not have skids.

Ok, skids and rails it is. That answers my question about what size tires to get also. I'll stick with the size I'm using now until I get a lift. Thanks fellas

Table Mesa area - the 101 class ran 'Raw Deal'. Always have meant to get out that way to run some of those trails...
