So I was sitting at the red light last night, an all of a sudden I looked down and MY WHOLE DASHBOARD was lit up. Like I had just started the Jeep. The oil light, gas light, Roof Lights, High beams etc........ They all stayed on for about 5 seconds. What the hell is that about? :x

Well that's weird! Did the motor cut off or anything? Or the lights just came on, then went back off? The only inaccurate dash light I've had was when the low fuel light stayed on even though the tank was full. Had to shut the motor off and then restart to get it to go off.

If you're on the east side of Florida, you're in the Bermuda triangle.
Disovery channel says it's a Magnetic field or Aliens.

The truck stayed on the whole time. Never shut off, or stalled. The burmuda triangle must be my only guess. (100's of miles away) but i'll go with that one. LOL

I think the Bush Administration is secretly spying on you and sending electromagnetic fields into your KJ which is causing it to act odd as it uploads your personal info. to the government servers.

LOL... in honesty though, the Body Control Module is a VERY common problem on these KJs. My bet would be yours is on the blink too.

say that is the problem? Is it covered under my warranty? I've got a 2004 w/ 38k miles.

Yours is '04? Yeah my wife's is an '04 and her BCM was replaced already. And if you read the forums enough you'll see that many people have had trouble with that on their KJs. With 38K on the clock I don't think it will be covered under warranty because the 7/70 warranty is only on drivetrain parts, and the BCM is not included in that. It would have been included in your 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. Sucks I know...

Man I don't remember exactly, but it seems like it wasn't cheap. Go on the Jeep website and look up the nearest 5 star dealership to where you live. Call them and the service department will be able to quote you a price on replacing it. Good luck.. Hopefully that truly is your problem so you don't have to keep guessing...

If I can, may I piggy back on this topic?

I've had my Libertah stall when shifting between Reverse and Drive (Auto 42RLE, 3.7 V6). Took it to the dealer, and naturally they "couldn't find anything wrong." Translation: "We don't want to mess with it." It's done that about three or four times since I've had it (Nov. 03). On Saturday, I had another interesting thing occur. I was coming to a stop and my girlfriend got out just before I was at a complete stop. Naturally, the dash dinged at me and the open door message flashed on my odometer. After I came to a complete stop, it dinged again. I didn't think much of it, but looked down a couple seconds later, all the lights on the dash were lit and the fuel gauge needle was coming back up from empty. To the best of my recollection, the engine never stalled and I had between a half and a quarter tank of gas. Any ideas? Oh yeah, my 3/36K warranty just expired two weeks ago. :x Any help is greatly appreciated.

James

hatteras, report your problems to the dealer or DC right away even if you don't get it fixed now. This way if the trouble continues or gets worse down the road you will be more likely to get warranty coverage for it if DC has record of the issues starting while under warranty.

Thanks for the info and the couple of options this problem could be. I guess the next question is...what type of sever problem could occur because of this. I mean is it something I can just deal with? Or am i gonna be sitting on the side of the highway on my way to tallahassee sometime?
