It's time to post up another High Altitude Expedition!!!

Beth and I are heading up to Ouray, CO for a week of high altitude trails and great scenery. The wildflowers will be evrywhere that time of year!

This will be our 5th trip to the San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado. We plan on leaving Phoenix Jul 17 and return on Jul 24th. We'll be staying in Montrose this year. It's 30 miles north of Ouray. Hotel rooms are almost half the price than they are in Ouray. Ouray has just gotten too expensive for our pocket book.

We hope some of you folks can find the time to join us this year... you won't be disappointed in the high mountain trails, the wildflowers and maybe some snow at the higher elevations.

If any one is interested, let us know and we'll post up some more details.

Note: Our trip will be the week immediately AFTER the LOST JEEP SAFARI 09- Ouray, Co.- July 11-18

Just curious, why are you not going during the LJS event?

The truth?? I'm not too fond of the trail selections/combinations and there seems to be too much free time. I originally signed up for LJS Ouray '09 but after thinking it over, I decided I'd rather do it on a smaller scale, spending more time on more trails. The different routes I've put together over the years allow me to run almost all of the trails in the Wells book and a few others in a weeks time. Since we're going, I posted up the trip as I've done for the past two years. Don't mean to ruffle any feathers or take away from the "main" event....

No worries. Shame you won't be there to help lead us around.

While I am by no means an expert, but I know the trails pretty good and was nominated by someone here in AZ to help out when the event was first posted. I in turned offered to help. I was up there last Sep and could of given some insight and pre-run some trails with the organizers, but no one seemed to be interested or couldn't make it.

In short, I was more than willing to lend a hand, but it seemed like it wasn't needed, so I just took a back seat and let the event unfold to what's being posted in the other thread. Hence I moved my trip back a week to spend more time on the different trails the area has to offer....
