After 2.5 yrs. and 36K on my CRD I've noticed something a bit odd lately the last couple months.

Only when I let the Jeep sit 24-36 hrs. (park Friday night, startup Sunday morning) startup is fine, a couple extra cranks and then LOUD RATTLE then idle back to normal but then when I drop it in D it limps/nearly stalls for the first 20-40 ft. Then everything is ok, no codes. I do ORM, and have a CAT filter past 18 mo. but no air in filter issues.

A couple times I've primed the filter prior to startup in this scenario and it seemed to help slightly; and it's not really "soft" but 6-10 pumps makes it "firm" I plan on doing a lift pump this year, but curious if a lift pump would solve this fuel supply issue? Anyone else experienced this?? Thanks

I installed my lift pump to avoid that problem. I have ranted at nausium before and upset a few members that have not had problems. Bleed out your filter head and check the heater plug on the same side as the battery for burn marks or leaks. You may notice it is wet with fuel after you bleed out the air.

Find the fuel/air leak and fix it. Start with the fuel heater connection and your Cat filter mod. I did that mod and could never get it to seal. It would lose prime after sitting no matter how I sealed the threads. I finally fixed it with a new filter head.

FYI - the original style fuel head will develop leaks over time
the seal at the heater plug is a bad design -
that's why they spend the money to redo it.

If you still have warranty - I'd get the new style filter head
If you're out of warranty - I'd go to Racor.
