Tires... What are people Running? and How are They Working?

I've been looking into Tires Lately and want too know what people are Running and how they are Holding up. I currently am running UniRoyal Liberator A/T's They work good in Pretty much all weather but Snow and really hold up good in loose Gravel. I'm looking at a set of Pro-Comp All Terrains now, has anyone tried these?

BF Goodrich TA/KO 245-75-R16 - 2002 Liberty Renegade - Stock Renegade rim (5.5"back space 7" wide) - 1.25" wheel spacers - 2.5" lift with pinch welds pounded back and ARB Front bumper, no rubbing.

BF Goodrich TA/KO 235-70-R16 - 2002 Liberty Sport - Stock Sport aluminum rim (5.5"back space 7" wide) - no modifications - no rubbing

Both my Liberty and my wife's are daily drivers so I can't go full blown with the offroad tires (through I get tempted at times).

I don't know if you can beat the BFG TA/KO for a solid multipurpose tire. I went through tons of different brands trying to find a good mix of both street and offroad performance, When I bought my first set of BFG TA/KO for my Comanche eons ago I was happy enough with them that I have never purchased another tire for any of my trucks, and I am not very easy to please. When it was time to replace the factory tires on my wifes Liberty I gave her 0 choice in the matter, fortunately she really liked them, so I get to live.

Friday (tomorrow) my lift will have been on 1 year. The tires went on shortly after and the KJ is driven every day. You can see my tires in my sig. line. So far they have been very good on and off. I don't drive hard on the road but off road I give them a good work out. No snow of course! Not many rocks. Fallen trees, sand and lots of mud down here. They grip well going over logs!

Sorry about adding another thread Just really wanted to see about the Pro Comps. I can buy'em cheap through work, also a new thread usually sparks quick feedback on other options.

they are great! They are wearing very nicely, I think they are wearing better then the name brand ATs I had before, and they are great in the snow and mud AND they are cheap!! what else do you need lol I paid $90 per tires shipped to my house and when I ordered them it took 4 days and I came home and they were sitting on my front porch!

New threads are fine, good infact. Keeps info current. It was just in the wrong place. :wink:

I have the Trxus MTs and like em a lot. Daspes is running the new Pro Comp Xtreme MT or whatever it is called and he likes em a lot I believe.

I'm running Sport King A/T's on the KJ, And like Inc said ProComp Xtreme M/T's on the JK. The only real complaint I have of the Xtreme (M/T and A/T's) compound is they chunk easier than some other tires I've run. It is a different compound from their regular M/T and A/T's though.

To clarify your question: Are you driving in snow or wheeling in it? If it is street driving the A/T is preferable to an M/T. Look for which ever model has the most siping is what I would go for. Though no mater what with an A/T you'll be picking that gravel out of your voids all the time...

so far on mine I have ran
stock Junkyears.
..junk from the get go

Firestone Destination ATs (245-70-16)
good road manners, great in snow and overall driving very quiet, but filled with mud real easy wore great

Kumho KL78s (255-70-16)
good tire for the money again quiet, did good all around in snow, and mud, more of an open tread and would clean pretty good for an AT tire

BFG A-T T/A, (265-70-16)
so far great tire, little more noise than either one of the other two, great in snow and all around drivng so far , only had them last 4000 miles

i love my BFG AT KO's. great in all terrain as the name states

but really i've tested them in every type of terrain and they were great in everything.. especially on road with snow,ice,rain, dry... mud is the weak point but still not bad.

Wait till you get some real MTs, you'll laugh at how "good" you thought the BFG ATs were in the mud :wink:

I decided that I love tires, period! :shock:

If I could, I think I’d have about 3-4 rim selections to accommodate my 3-4 tire choices.

For this reason, I compromised with the Toyo Open Country A/T’s. The Toyo’s are suppose to be a pretty good off-road tire in the A/T category. When aired down, they scored higher than the BFG T/A KO’s according to JP magazine. They are excellent for city and highway driving, lots of siping, and they are fairly long lasting tires.

What size ProComps were you looking at?

I am running LT245/75R16 Silent Armor

and very happy with the performance. I think for my needs the LT was overkill and I will most likely get the same tire again only in a "P" rated which will be less weight.

A close second might be this P255/70R16 -

Everyones needs are different, ours is an A/T that is quiet with very good on road dry, rain and snow traction that sees occasional off road use.

I've got 245/70/16 Wrangler Silent Armors and I love them! Quiet on the highway, great wet and dry/mud traction, they grip the rocks well. Nothing to complain about at all. I read a comparison between them and the MT/R recently and the tires tied
