water proof airflter

Sorry if this topic already been discussed 15 thousand times. 'Could not find anything in the search.
I just put extension breathers on the 4 main sensitive spots.

But now i just realised that the air filter intake is a tube going down from the air box to the almost the same level than the front bumper. :oops:

My first reaction would be to disconnect the orignal tube and to connect a flex tube to the airbox and to bring it at the level of the top right handside corner of the hood. This way, the intake would be the highest possible before going for a snorkel.
Anyone with an idea? Do US KJ have different airbox?

Gasser airbox. Takes air from above the radiator support.

Bridges: good idea, except when there are none. its third world here in europe :wink:

Snorkel: to me, if water reaches the top of the hood, there would be enough water coming the door seals already, no need to go till the roof (snorkel).
but i may be wrong...??

I'm not sure if the bottom of the airbox is sealed, so you wouldn't be able to go to the hoodline. But maybe if you sealed it.

The key is keep moving! If you stop, you're going to fill up. If you get stuck, you have about 3 mins before your feet start getting wet.

Get an '02 CRD airbox....since you're in Europe that would be easy. It has a mini snorkel.

I gonna look for one. I actualy though there was a solution through the 2002 airbox.
That should help, i just want to make the KJ water proff up to the hood.
...how doe these hoses look like on your beast ?

Yea, we built *just enough* for ourselves to give us a taste of the good mileage that is possible... Then shipped all the rest (and continue to) elsewhere in the world for the LUCKY people that get an actual selection of high-mileage hard working diesels.

sorry but am actually just waiting for Mercedes who owns Chrysler (....for how long ??..) to decide to put one of their high-tech diesel Merck made diesel...
Where i live, we got a bunch of histerical ecolos that managed to force our goverenment to write a law that would ban ALL 4x4....and ALL vehicule spitting more than 250 g/km of CO2.... :shock:

Give me back my rocket launcher !!! :twisted:

I don't own a Chevy truck, I personally think they are made of plastic crap, but do you see me over in a Chebby forum pissing in their cheerios? Why the constant flow of haterade at our diesels?

I've driven many CRD's,where's the power?The last one would barely pull itself on the alignment rack,and I had it floored just to make it on! My 3.7 has more power then any of the CRD's I've driven.I bought my Jeep to play on rocks,mpg's I don't care about though I can pull almost 22mpg's at 75 mph on the highway,not bad for a 5500lbs brick.
