I've only had my 06 crd 28000km, for one week, but under hard acceleration i'm hearing a lot more wooshing sounds as well as almost a tappet type of rattle until the revs come up some. Being new with this jeep, is this normal or not. Thanks for any help.

Trying to decode your verbal description with a Diesel will:

1) Make you worry for nothing

2) Tell you it is OK and you trash your engine.

If you have a friend who owns a Common Rail Type diesel ask them to go along for a ride and listen.

Common Rail Engines in US and Canada are: Newer Dodge Cummins trucks (I think 03 up), Duramax engines, Sprinter engines, Mercedes CDI engines including the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A good mechanic who works on the engines above will be able to tell by listening.

Another option would be to record the sound, post it on U-tube, and post the link, we will be happy to help you.

Also I recommend you read and act upon some of the other posts like the ones on ORM and SEGR so your friends will say,"Diesel EH?" instead of,"Is that a Diesel?"

Then Clean the MAP, and pick a lift pump out after looking over the threads. GMCTD's Haystack in the CRD Tech Section has an abundance of great information.

Your fuel economy will benefit too.

Well I may have an idea as to what these bad noises were. I tried the ORM and the difference was amazing. No more rattling under acceleration, and the engine felt much stronger. Maybe the egr valve was the problem.
