Well, the CRD gave up the ghost. Battery went completely dead a few days ago. I ended up getting a new battery...not an Optima...and less than 24 hours later...nothing.

Had it towed with my Maximum Care (70,000 miles or 06/03/2011 with a $100.00 deductible) extended warranty. I gave the dealer the F21 print out and left it at that. Today I went over and happened to run into the mechanic. He wanted to know what the extra wires were for...SEGR. I don't know what will happen next. They are telling me it is not the Body Control Module that is causing the problem. The thing is draining the power quick. The alternator is throwing some weird numbers also.

I hope the SEGR does not cause a problem with the warranty work...

Don't see how it could cause battery problems. It only gets power when the engine is running. Key off, engine computer off, SEGR is off.

As far as a good guess to what these extra wires are (non SEGR knowing people), one could mention a possible theft deterrent interface, some kind of data recorder interface for ??, even a Lo-Jack possible magic box, etc. etc...

Darby, I've heard of dealers not wanting to do any warranty work on vehicles because of some of the smallest mods. They make some crazy excuses as to why the mod was the cause of the break down even though it had nothing to do with it. If they don't ask any more questions about the "extra wires" I wouldn't bring it up.
I'm surprised they haven't said anything about the EHM....

Best of luck with your situation.

I took off the EHM prior to getting it towed.

Did you unplug the SEGR and install the bypass plug prior to having it towed?

Yep, electrical problem with the alternator would be my guess as well.

One of those cheap digital plug-in voltmeters from Autozoo or other parts stores is pretty valuable for some advance warning when something is going south electrically.

Well I decided to flood them with requests. Do the Blower Motor Recall...Do the Window Regulator Recall...Replace the Fuel Filter (needed it anyway)..and replace the Alternator since they can find no other problem. All the parts should be here late today or early Wednesday Morning. I should get my Jeep back by Wednesday Afternoon, if the Alternator is the problem.

I also specifically told them not to perform the F37 and they agreed. Of course, they will need to recharge the Battery.

Is it still called the F37, or do they just call it the latest re-flash?

It is not a recall...but a technical service bulletin TSB on the power windows/regulator/track. It concerns windows that drag or bind and mine did...very slow movement sometimes.

Is this covered on your warranty?

TSB's are only covered under the 3/36,000 bumper to bumper warranty, out of warranty you have to pay.
