Howdy,
I may have an issue with my transmission, or maybe this is normal.
Vehicle: 2005 Liberty Renegade 4x4 3.7 V-6 42rle completely stock. 64,000 miles. Purchased used from Jeep dealer with 14,000 miles on the odometer. Later determined, Jeep was previous Enterprise Rental car from Los Angeles.

Maintenance since purchase: 5k oil changes. Just starting 60k service have not changed trans fluid yet.
Trans fluid level:OK

Issue: light shudder or hesitation throughout entire vehicle when trans placed in drive, brakes released, and motor at idle. Smooths out when throttle is opened. Above idle operation seems OK, shifts OK.
In reverse, shudder is worse, especially if backing up an incline and gets worse with throttle, but goes away above 1300rpm.

I read through several pages worth of posts from some search inquiries but didn't see anything matching what I'm experiencing.

Dealers are aware of this and there is a TSB reflash for it.

where can we find the TSB's for the KJ? I need to get my tranny serviced and wouldn't mind having them double check this while they have it.

X2 but only in reverse, never forward.

Yeah mine is more noticeable going uphill in reverse, and like you said, if I gve it more gas it goes away faster.

I have this same issue as well. It's not that noticeable but my car actually stalled backing up in reverse up a small but sharp incline in a parking lot. Think I should have the tranny checked?

Fixed my tranny shudder this weekend by replacing the spark plugs.

Yup, replaced the OEM spark plugs that had 65k miles on them. Jeeps feels so much smoother and has more pep.
Electrodes were badly eroded, so gap was .060 on 5 and .065 on one. The two rear most plugs had valleys cut into the electrodes. It didn't feel like it was running poorly before the plug change, but after the change I noticed a big difference. Maybe I'll see a mpg increase. Was getting 19mpg at last fill up

My shudder has pretty much gone away since I added my steel rear bumper. There is a very tiny, single shudder or two when reversing on a very steep hill, but nothing like before.

I have the 60k transmission servive and T-case service to perform and then I can relax and start tinkering with the Scout again.
