Why in God's name would you use wheel spacers with that wheel/tire combo?

To give her a more unique look. Why Else?

I think what Tbird was saying was why not get wheels that have the correct backspacing instead of throwing extra money away on spacers, a unique look would not be a good reason, only would show you got the wrong wheels

That's what I was getting at.

With spacers and 4" BS on a 15x7 and 31s on a KJ

The Jeep would look like a pregnant roller skate

General Grabber AT2, Love 'em I have to drive 128 miles one way to work over the Sierras. I've never had a problem in the snow going over Donner Pass. :D :D :D. I just wish I didn't have to drive so far just to bring a train back to Reno.

I've got 245/70/16 Wrangler Silent Armors and I love them! Quiet on the highway, great wet and dry/mud traction, they grip the rocks well. Nothing to complain about at all. I read a comparison between them and the MT/R recently and the tires tied :)

Djui5, can you elaborate on which areas of comparison the two tires “tied” in? Obviously, they didn’t compare in mud terrain. So what types of terrain did they tie in? There’s a lot of people who like the silent armors, but I’m a little perplexed as to why they seem to be such a good off-road tire when their tread-pattern seems to show otherwise.

Ok to clear this up I finally found the article. It was not the MT/R tires, and I appologize for passing on wrong information. *smacks forehead*

Anyway, here is the article. Read it for yourself.

I've heard that Mickey Thompson's don't wear well, or is that just a rumor?

I think the Baja Claws, non radials, are known for that, but the others I haven't heard that about.

I had a set of their MT's (can't, for the life of me remember what they were called...it was a decade ago almost now) and a set of their MTXs (AT's)

Both wore exceptionally well.

Granted, both were on sub-3,000 lb CJs

Anything that is made by Cooper and is not cheap garbage is typically a darn good tire

I am running BFG All-Terrains like a lot of guys on here. I've had them on my KJ for about 17k, and love them.

I'm trying to decide between 235/85/16 and 215/85/16's.

Either way I'm getting BFG AT's.

I've been looking into Tires Lately and want too know what people are Running and how they are Holding up. I currently am running UniRoyal Liberator A/T's They work good in Pretty much all weather but Snow and really hold up good in loose Gravel. I'm looking at a set of Pro-Comp All Terrains now, has anyone tried these?

I've had my KJ since Aug 2005, and I've used BFG LT 235 70 R 16 TA/KO, not bad. Then I tried BFG LT 235 70 R16 TA/KM MTR's, which were great, but were really noisy, and got even louder as time went on. However, I did get about 54K miles on them.

Now, I have two sets of tires: 1 set of Goodyear, basically the same tread pattern used for the Wrangler Rubicon, for these I added a 2" spacer lift from Daystar: Goodyear 245 75 R16, MTRs, which don't get great miledge, but can if you slow down and do the speed limit, lol. I also have a set of Firestone Destination 245-75-R16 ATs, which get much better miledge than the MTRs and still handle great.

I love both sets, and they look and handle really well on or off road. There is some rubbing, but I'm still in the cutting out stage, lol. I also pounded the pinch welds and seamed the plastic with a heat gun.

All in all, I noticed that the BFG's were great but they were a heavy tire, I'd say the best I've had so far have the Goodyear for an aggresive tread, but the Firestone Destinations are great for moderate off roading, as well as on road without losing miles.

Hope this helps, Stever71
