i have thought long and hard...this is in the far future after i finished getting the bigger axles in and this is a stretch
really only want something to give some protection roll-over and body but not to elaborate

Sweet, go for it. I'm not particularly a fan of exos but I am all about pushing the limits and doing new stuff for KJs. Cookie cutter sucks.

for about 120 bucks a square foot you could plate it in 1 1/4 inch thick A36 plate

have you thought about hinging in mid-door removable rails?

Good. For a second I thought you changed your tires every week. Are you gonna do the front and rear bumpers at the same time as the exo?

GO FOR IT
PICS pICS {PICS

but if you going to go ahead and run the 2 vertical bars in front of the rear door and behind the rear door all the way over the top then
just hook the roof rack to that

just my 2 cents
but it would seriously look great
i think there was a kj on here somewhere that had a partial exo

That would be kick stupid!!!
Always liked the look of exos, but is it more of a look than a functionality thing? I mean you don't go hard core rock crawling do you? Guess I'm just saying I'd put more money somewhere else for functionality sake... but i will love the custom bumpers!

James,
Check out my latest bumper pics in the other thread in fabrication. I extended the sides out far enough to offer some flare protection AND allow for a bar to run along the flares back to the rock rails (just like you have in your picture). I actually thought about doing that, but I want to wait until I get the tires and wheels I'll be using to ensure that I don't have to widen the flares out any.

:)

And as for the "hard core rock crawling" question, some of the places James and I frequent have the potential to do major body damage. Not sure how much the exo would help though. Seems that the doors are the most vulnerable whenever I get into the bad situations. The exo above doesn't seem to offer much there. I'm sure that is due to the complexity of doing that and having the doors be able to open.

Make sure you use DOM tubing and with a min wall thickness of .120" otherwise it will be for show only without having to use very thick walled cold/hot rolled steel tubing that will make you extremely top heavy.
