I've been looking into Tires Lately and want too know what people are Running and how they are Holding up. I currently am running UniRoyal Liberator A/T's They work good in Pretty much all weather but Snow and really hold up good in loose Gravel. I'm looking at a set of Pro-Comp All Terrains now, has anyone tried these?
I've had my KJ since Aug 2005, and I've used BFG LT 235 70 R 16 TA/KO, not bad. Then I tried BFG LT 235 70 R16 TA/KM MTR's, which were great, but were really noisy, and got even louder as time went on. However, I did get about 54K miles on them.
Now, I have two sets of tires: 1 set of Goodyear, basically the same tread pattern used for the Wrangler Rubicon, for these I added a 2" spacer lift from Daystar: Goodyear 245 75 R16, MTRs, which don't get great miledge, but can if you slow down and do the speed limit, lol. I also have a set of Firestone Destination 245-75-R16 ATs, which get much better miledge than the MTRs and still handle great.
I love both sets, and they look and handle really well on or off road. There is some rubbing, but I'm still in the cutting out stage, lol. I also pounded the pinch welds and seamed the plastic with a heat gun.
All in all, I noticed that the BFG's were great but they were a heavy tire, I'd say the best I've had so far have the Goodyear for an aggresive tread, but the Firestone Destinations are great for moderate off roading, as well as on road without losing miles.
Hope this helps, Stever71
