I just ordered the F-102 Fumoto valve for my CRD. Should I use Loc-Tite when I install? Does anyone know if the Fumoto comes with a gasket?

My fumoto 102 did come with a gasket. I didn't use anything on the threads other than the oil that was there from draining the pan. I removed the copper gasket that went with the drain plug too.

The copper gasket that came with the Fumoto, or the copper gasket from the original drain plug?

Absolutely no reason to use Loc-Tite. Snig it down good and then a week or so later recheck it. It will be goog to go from then on. You don't use Loc-Tite on a normal drain plug.

I didn't use lock tite. I did pull the gasket that came with the valve off and put on a new copper crush washer.

Save Loctite for a Pipe Thread Reducer bushing IF it is used to repair a stripped drain plug hole.

I did one this past weekend the same way.Got the copper washer from NAPA.
As far as locktite???You better have serious patience.I waited near an hour and oil was still driping.
Passed on the locktite.

I removed the copper washer that came with the jeep and set it aside along with the OEM plug. I installed the blue washer that came with the fumoto 102. It's been three weeks, no leaks. I snugged it about 1/4 turn past contact with the pan.

I was concerned with the lip of the fumoto sticking up past the inside of the pan causing oil/crud to not drain completely. I had planned to notch the top of the fumoto to allow the oil to drain better. However, when I compared the depth of the threads to the length of the fumoto threaded shaft I found that they were nearly identical. I say nearly because I was using a screwdriver and thumb to measure and compare. It's not exact, but close enough to say that if any oil/crud pools, it won't be significantly different than what would have happened without the fumoto valve installed.

Isn't it cheaper to just order from our own Greg?

I sure hope not, because mine came in Friday. Do I really want to know how much I could have saved. . . .?

I was kind of surprised you didn't. He posted in this thread.

Greg,
I just did my first oil change and it would be nice to install an F102 for the next time. But, I didn't find the drain plug to be an 8mm hex key (Allen) like the service manual stated.
Now the dealer could have just replaced it with a plug that they had at the time or they stripped the pan and re-threaded.
Could you give me the diameter and pitch that it is supposed to be so I can check for the next time?

I apologize, Greg. I didn't realize that you sold these, or I would have checked with you first.

I may have the same issue as Squeeto. I had my final in-warranty oil change done at the dealer, and noticed a slow leak about 2 weeks later, coming from my Allen-bolt drain plug. I brought it back to them and they put a normal hex-bolt on it, which I have used through 2 oil changes now. I hope there are no surprise differences in size when I go to install my Fumoto. We'll see in about 4,000 more miles. (about 8 weeks)

Once again, Greg, my apologies. I certainly would have bought from a L.O.S.T. member had I known.
