I ordered a transfer case skid plate from the a dealer but it won't have any hardware ($30 - not too bad.) So what do I need, they really didn't seem to know (surprise.) If it's just bolts and washers no bid deal, I think it's grade 8 bolts 1.5" long with a 1.5 or 1.75 pitch. Do I need any of those nutzerts that the rear tow hook uses? Also, I have an '04 and I think the one I'm picking up is an 05 plate. If anyone has made that fit can you let me know what I'm in for? Will I just need to drill a little bit or will it require trimming some of the skid plate and/or bending of any metal. I plan on installing it next weekend (along with my skid row transmission skid and aux transmission cooler I still need to pick up:)

my 05 transfer case skid uses 3 nutzerts. I am sure somebody here will tell you that you can drill and use bolts though. Also not sure if the holes will line up between 04 and 05 on that skid. you may need to drill the plate too.

OK, I picked it up today and no hardware. What size bolts do I need? What is the thread - 1.75 or 1.5"? The dealer said it would fit an '03 - '07 so I should be set without drilling, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

the nutserts are kind of a pain, I installed some and then I welded them in to be sure they werent moving. I cant remember the bolt size though, you would be better off drilling through and using bolts.

Where else can we purchase these Nutserts other than the stealership. I called them up with part# 06506644AA and they wanted $6.99 a piece and I need/want 6-8 of them.

I cant remember but there is a place online that has them for about $1.99 each if IIRC. Ill do a search on it when I get back home, if someone hasnt already found it by then.

I also HAD to have the nutserts i wanted them to be on they way they were intended. So i paid the dealer and used their hardware.

When i sheared off 5 of the bolts and broke 3 of the inserts i got the drill and did it the right way. Save some $$ and grab your drill. get some grade 5 bolts from napa and washers/nuts and call it done.

Does anyone have the original directions and more importantly the equipment/part list for the Mopar Transfer Case Skid Plate? It seems like the holes on the skid plate line up with the holes in frame but I have no idea what to do with the section that will lock down on the side frame rail. I can’t drill strait through the frame rail b/c the body of the Jeep is above the side frame rail.

If you have either of those and can send or post it so I can see it would help me out a great deal. If you have any suggestions for what I can/should do I’m all ears.
