The tube where the oil stick for the transmition is broken. It lookes to me that it have vibrated too much, and therefore broken in half. It is just above the upper "console", that holds the pipe to the rear side of the engine. And now what to doo? Can I just plug the hole, and use the loose pipe together whith the oilsheckstick to controll the oil level, or do I need to replace the pipe. Realy a simple thing to doo, if there where enough space. But it looks lika I have to lower the engine and gearbox.

The OBD shows P1010 and P0700.
P0700 also says MIL request, what does that mean?

By the way, the oiltrain is a little buckled and bendt... Hopefully it is just to bang it out again.

Pics will be added later today.

PS. If I spell something wrong, pleas let me know. I might learn something. :D

You should replace the dipstick tube, but it can be repaired with a section of emisions-type rubber hose (similar to the hose between the CCV and the turbo inlet) and screw-type hose clamps - the drivetrain must be lowered to R&R the tube, whether you decide to replace or repair

Also, you really need to fix the transmission oilpan - if it's crunched, it's likely restricting fluid flow into the filter, which will quickly damage the very expensive 545RFE - takes two filters, the flat main element and the mini screw-on return-filter

I saved my steel pan when I Swapped it for the PML.

I will sell it for 1/3 new price plus freight, send a PM if you want it.

Freight to Sweden would be stiff unless you have a US relative that could transport it as a gift.

Bolt a handle on the Trans Pan and call it a fry pan.

A tree stump and hammer may be a more cost effective solution

After all, that is how they used to make the body's for Italian cars.

Good luck

Well, I now see why it´s not working right. But I think it will be allright.

Oilpan outside.

Oilpan inside. Notise the round mark inside the red ring.

That ring perfectly fit this tube.

I belive that the oil had trouble to go through there.

Here you can see the tube to oilstick.

Hi jeepetorp

I have a friend with a 2004 KJ CRD,and with your same problem.
you as you have resolved the problem? me seems that the 545 RFE cannot be lowered, because not it is much space.
perhaps it must just remove it from the car?
thank you

Giacomo
