Well I've saved 3200 up so far and I'm just not sure what I should do I guess I got a few options tell me what you guys think

1. Revtek lift with 265/70r16 treatright mtrs roughly 800.00 the wait for the franky to eventually come out

2. Jba 2.5 and 265/70r16 mtrs and call it a day

3. Save more and get the jba 4.5 and some 265/75r6

I was thinking I really won't wheel it very hard till it's paid off just due to the fact the bank owns it. Let me know what y'all think everyones opion counts l. Thanks guys

Here are some of the thoughts that went through my head....and I think my head works fairly well...so maybe its a good road map for you:

1.) How much will I be going offroad? - Not a whole hell of a lot. I've got land with trails...but I've also got a few ATV's and a Polaris Ranger. That said, I do have an urge to take my Jeep where no Jeep has gone before.

2.) Where will I be offroading? - Look, if you are going offroad in a field, who needs 4" lift, 33" tires, and heavy duty skid plates? If you live in Utah....well, that's a different story.

3.) Do I have a practical use for the lift/locker/tires/etc, etc? - Yes! I go to my camp almost weekly. In the winter, just getting there often requires 4WD, and sometimes that doesn't cut it. A little more clearance, a little more traction, and a mean looking vehicle that makes me feel good is enough to validate the cost of aftermarket items.

4.) Am I a novice, intermediate, or expert Jeeper? - This is my second Jeep, and my first venture into the aftermarket. I had no idea what to expect in terms of how these items would affect my brand new vehicle. What I did know is that I wanted to have know degradation to my vehicle or ride quality. Thus, more expensive (hopefully equating to higher quality) and less extreme seemed like a good beginner's path.

5.) How much gas mileage am I willing to sacrifice? - Sure, the gearheads on here will say, "If you are worried about gas mileage you shouldn't have bought a Jeep." I'm more moderate in thinking....I knew my gas mileage wouldn't be great and that didn't bother me, however I would be bothered by dropping to horrible. By all accounts adding weight and extremely larger tires = horrible gas mileage. Again, less extreme looked good to me.

6.) How much am I willing to spend? - This question is generally either the starting point or the ending point depending upon whether you want to dream a little first or face reality right away. Sometimes you can rationalize things for yourself: "I spent $X on the Liberty and adding Y parts will cost $Y. $X + $Y (plus tax and labor?) = $Z. $Z is still < a fully loaded H3....so what the hell?" Bottom line is, this question should be your bottom line!

I think these are the questions everyone considering tinkering with their stock vehicle should ask themselves. Make a flow chart and answer them honestly....it should lead anybody to the right answer. A guy with a junk load of money, is an avid offroader, and no care for gas mileage will end up with an extreme rig that cost some cash. A guy who simply wants to improve the aesthetics of his vehicle will probably end up doing a clevis lift and changing his stock tires to A/T's without going up in size.

As far as offroading it will be pretty light till the jeeps payed off but I would like to do some light trails nothing it couldn't do stock basically but looks wise I can't stand the tires right now I'm thinking number one right now but could easily be convinced otherwise. Another run on lol work plus post= nothing getting done LOL. Thanks alot for the poll Inc

We can't answer this ... It's all up to you.

What do you want out of your truck? Hardcore off-roading or light fun in the mud ... You need to figure out what you want and then go from there.

The answers you get will vary by what other people want. The hard core off-roaders will say get the biggest lift with the biggest tires. The social muders will say get a small life and some good A/T tires ...

think about what else you could buy with that money then see if you prefer to have the 4'' lift over the stuff you thought first. Thats how i see it. I have X amout of money available and I will spend it on the stuff i want the most and right now its cool mods for my jeep :D I dont want a 42'' plasma tv as much as a 4'' lift and 33'' tires

Frankenlift, get as much height out of it as possible, and get the axles that are machined down so you dont have issues in that area, 4:10's, and pound the pinch weld and do a little fender trimming. With that much money you could put on a couple of nice accessories.

If the franky was out for the kk I'd be getting it without question but since the 2.5 is just that a 2.5 from what I have heard the franky actually gets you more than 2.5 and if it's the same with the kk I'll be happy as heck. So I think I'm probly gonna just do the revtek for the time being and then when the franky comes out get that I was doing some math and I could get full skids rails gears locker and diff cover but that's not gonna do anything for look.

Last night I actually lost sleep over this LOL but I'm thinking after seeing diggers 4 with km2s that maybe I should just get the 4 with 265/75r16 km2 it would be more but at the same time it's not that I have to wheel it hard and it would look sweet.Digger what did you have to do to fix the problems you had at first what was the extra cost?

same issue from a gearing standpoint, they're still almost 32's

Is the difference that much that you need to re gear? I want to keep to a 235 for better mpg versus a 265. There is no 235 that is 31" only 30.5" and then 31.7" in the bfg all terrain any other tires? $700 plus labor about $1500 to re-gear might be pushing my budget. I want but have a budget. The 4" JBA would give good clearance for the body and the 32" are nice to give clearance under the axile and gearbox. Hmmm

going from 3.73 to 4.56 makes a big difference but there are many KJ's out there that run 31'' to 32'' tires on stock gears. you can do it but expect to loose performance and mpg. you should ask alfmoonspace he got a set of 31.something on stock gears

Considering I drive 10 miles a day at most and the fact I drive like a 70 yr I don't think power loss and mpg really bothers me. I would eventually get new gears but that would be down the line
