I've begun work on a custom rear bumper. I started this weekend and I'm pressed to get it done before Thursday, so it's been a bit rushed. So far I have it fabbed up. I'm doing some finish welds on it tomorrow and griding the welds down. I should be able to primer it Wednesday. It's nothing fancy and it does not have any swing-aways (yet). It does have an integrated reciever hitch and D-ring shackles. It is constructed of 3/16" mild steel just like my front bumper. It gives about 6" more clearance behind the tires. My gas tank skid is still limiting ground clearance though.
Also, it moves the reciever up about 6 inches. I was always coming down off of rocks and landing on the hitch. This should clear that up.
I was a bit concerned that it would not be able to be taken off and put on by one person like the front bumper is. But it turns out that it can. The lip that goes in under the door can support the bumper while you put the bolt in underneath.
My front bumper has two arms that slide down inside the frame rails. It supports the bumper by those while you buolt up from underneath. Both are pretty easy to remove and replace with one person. I'll get pics up soon.
