Is it normal for a power module to to throw a CEL? I thought they were plug and play?

I have an Edge and when I put it on 2 it'll randomly shut down (Edge said I need to change a Fuel filter - that I'm running out of fuel)

but no CEL - just 'limp' mode - shutdown restart and it's fine.

(any idea what the code was?)

I have an Edge and I drive around with it in the 2 position. I rarely use 3. If I leave it accidentally in 3 and drive up a long grade that are all over the Rockies the engine shuts off. The last time it happened was February as I drove up Vail Pass at night during a snow storm. Very disconcerting.

I just call them “Pilgrims.”
It’s easy to see that they’re lost.
