I just installed a factory Jeep hitch on my 08, and the factory rear tow hook is eliminated in the process.

Anybody interested in buying it from me? Maybe somebody with factory hooks and no hitch could put it on their passenger side :?:

Now to find a bike rack...

i am interested in your wheels, what brand are they and where did you pick them up at? They would look great on my Black KK

Eagle Alloy's series 140

http://aewheel.com/eagle_alloy_wheels.cfm?id=356

I got them on eBay. Be careful with your tire selection on them, mine rubbed when at stock height. Ideally the rims should have .5" more backspacing. After I put a 2" Revtek lift on, now they only touch slightly at full lock. (front only of course)

I'm running 255/65/17. You'd probably be safe with 245/65/17, which is stock size on Grand Cherokee's and Commanders.

Or, if you go with 16" and a 245/70/16 you should be safe.

I'm wondering why you can't use the tow hook (or is it an eye?). Don't they use the same holes? Or does the hitch framework cover the access to the hook?

The tow hook is mounted to a large bracket, so the hook itself hangs below the bumper. The bracket assembly gets removed, and the hitch uses those holes.

I'm sure I could "make" it work... But not necessary in my opinion, I'll use the hitch as a recover point.

if it's like the KJ's theres been some people to remount their towhooks ontop of their hitches, just requires longer bolts in that location

if memory serves me they took the tow hook off the bracket and used 2 bolts through the towhook then through the hitch flange, then into the chassis, talking like 100mm long bolts but don't quote me on that, and i dont remember if they had to drill out the holes in the towhooks or not

but it can be done, but you're just as well off getting a warn or arb or something recovery piece for your hitch
