When we went a couple of years ago, i think it was about 5 hours... give or take, with stops. Not horrible.

For people meeting at the Speedway in Kenosha, I drove that way yesterday to pick up Aaron from the airport in Milwaukee... the Speedway on 50 isn't a truck stop like I had hoped for. It's not difficult to find, but still a little elusive. Get off I-94, and at the light, go left. It'll be on the left hand side after you go under the interstate.

Google maps says 5.5 hrs - is the highway still torn up going into Milwaukee ?

Who's still going ?

1. yellocoyote/ihatemybike
2. callaway
3. mx524
4. adanbmx

You guys going to wheel on Sunday? I'm going to be up north about an hour away near Minocqua, but am busy on Saturday.

If your going to hit some trails on Sunday, I'll be there.

I'd be down for doing something Sunday morning, but I'd like to be on the road by 12 - don't really want a 6 hour drive to turn into 7 or 8 with Sunday evening traffic in Milwaukee and Chicago.

Maybe the Wisconsinites would be up for a full day on Sunday ?

Would you be free Sat night to hunt down the mystery lights ? :P

Yes, that would be the plan, come over and camp with you guys Saturday night and see if we can't spy the conductor signaling. I'll PM my phone number. I'll give you a call Saturday on my way over.

Did you know (generally speaking) the % chance of any storm doesn't mean that is the odds of rain, snow or storm?

What this actually refers to is the % of the given area that will experience the effects of the weather. In other words, if there is a 60% of rain in the Chicago area, 60% of the region has been forecast to see rain. Remember, these are percentage forecasts by people who make a good living whether they're right or wrong.

I had lots of fun, Saw the mystery lights and wheeled some great forest trails. The camp site was fantastic, out on a point right on Bear Lake.

Thanks Rob, Jayme, Aaron and Sierra. Enjoyed it. I'll post my pictures when I get a chance.

I get to do a brake job this week. My right rear was dragging this morning. Didn't notice it on the way home. I just hit 73K, guess its time.

Nice Pics Jayme and Scott. Before I get to my contribution, here's a screenshot of the trails we took ( still trying to get an actual google map of this to work correctly )

The waypoints are the start of trails we took as well as the campsite. Some of the trail's actually had numbers to them, others just got random letters. 'Prty Bridge' ( Read 'pretty bridge' ) is the bridge where the radiator was cleaned.

Here's my contribution to the pictures :P Full pics are on my facebook, gonna try and get them on flickr.

Where'd the trail go ?

The ferns in the middle of the trail were almost taller than Jayme...

Image

Here's where Jayme got stuck - This was the only time we got stuck over the weekend. Like Jayme said, ~ 70' winchline, ~15' winchline extension, and a 30' towstrap was needed...

Saturday night we went to the a few miles north of Watersmeet MI in the UP to check out the Paulding Light... Very cool - like to get back up and check this out again...

All in all it was a great trip - can't want to get up there again :D

I betcha they do. Remember the only reason we didn't continue on with the Jurassic Park trail is the ferns were almost as tall as you :P

Would be cool if they did meet up... we can check that next time :D

Here's a link to a zoominable version of the google map

Okay, first things first. Looks like Aaron had a great time too!

I'm curious - Why was so much line / strap needed? Wasn't there a higher line on that section of trail to drive around her so that she could have been pulled out with a strap? Obviously the trail may appear deceiving in the photo but I'm thinking Jayme might still be there, had there not been a winch available?

Which reminds me, were there any other's wheeling up there?

I was really hoping one of you might have captured a photo of a black bear.

Aside from my curiosity about the trail where Jayme got stuck, great pictures and commentary everyone!!!
