I noticed on a recent rock climbing run with our 05 Renegade that the rear shocks hang WAY down.

Has anyone come up with a relocation bracket for the rear?

On my 89' Suburban, when I swapped in a 14 bolt FF axle I picked up some lower shock relocation brackets that moved the shocks up so that they did not go below the axle. I was thinking of doing this on the KJ. Would probably have to go to a shorter shock as those brackets hang about 6 to 8 inches down. Would need to grind off old brackets and weld on new ones. Shouldn't be too technical as long as I get the radius of the axle correct.

Anyone ever smacked them on the trail?

It hasn't been an issue fore me as of yet tipical I het the control arm braket on the rear before I it the shock.

BTW you should check out the AZ site we get together quite often for runs around the AZ area.

Later,

Jepin AL,
Thanks for the info. Geese, it looks pretty tight in there between the control arm and the brake backing plate. Where would one find those weld on mounts?

Thanks again. I will try to take a pic and post it of the custom mounts I am thinking of that are on my 89 Suburban this evening. I think they can be made from square tube, cut in half and radius to the axle.

One thing about those shock mounts is they are very close to the wheel, so I think they are less likely to get hit. Lots of trucks, they are right in the middle of that span of the axel, just asking to get sheered off! But you're right, I'm amazed nobody has broken one off yet.

Moved mine, since a big ol' rock jumped up and ripped the shock mount right off! I has happen to a couple of others too. Darn jumping rocks, they can't be trusted.
