But doesn't the Daystar top plate counteract the pre-load of the spacer?
Not really,it does somewhat but not 100%,maybe about 50%,but now you have a longer strut/coil assembly the normal and that is what increases the stacking issue that exceeds OME coil specs.

Ok....tjkj / LTT you are right, I made a big doodoo. To focused on pre-load to see the fact that the shock becomes about 2" longer then stock.

So you do need extended bumpstops on a Gasser Frankenlift.:D

The internal bump stop tech OME uses is the same tech that millions of motorcycles forks have been using for at least the last ten years. You don't need cheap insurance. The longer bumpstop used with an OME strut will give you less suspension travel. If you click on the link of the diagram that is posted in this thread, you can see how the lower set of pics show how uptravel is limited.
x3 on what Tjkj said on page 2

what you should do to avoid coil bind is to measure the fully compressed strut length between upper and lower spring perches with what ever isolators you choose. compare that to the block height of the spring ( calculate that by measuring the thickness of the coil wire and multiplying it by the number of coils in the spring) subtract that number from the compressed strut length. The block height should always be less. If you do this, you can avoid coil bind with whatever combo you decide to go with. Don't forget to add a little extra for the isolators when the compress. If you throw in thicker isolators, the compressed strut length will be less.

One thing ThunderbirdJunkie has not seen touched on

Is clevis and OTT spacer...which do not TECHNICALLY effect the preload of the spring

HOWEVER...

they change the geometry of the suspension and WHEN, in relation to the bumpstop, it is fully compressed.

So, if you ONLY want to get the springs, put them in, it is fine. But if you want to GO BIG and add clevis lift and some rear isolators and other gobbledygook you NEED bumpstops, period!
