If these springs don't work out, valley spring in town will be my next stop for custom springs.

As for the airbags, I figure they are great for driving on a road (on road towing). They will likely severely limit wheel travel and stuff off-road (if they don't tear and break in the first place). Plus they are one more thing to mess with (taking in and out when going offroad).

The airbags are inserted into the coil and left there. They replace the bumpstops alltogether. A pair of Firestone bags runs only $88 so I'm thinking about getting some and testing them out. You can run 5-30 psi. At low pressure, I would think they would not limit travel too much.

Make sure you let us know how those jba 4" springs work out. I was thinking of trying the same thing awhile ago.

This is why I still have my rear OME and 132L shocks. The ride quality is great and I have lots of flex. Plus my rear sits at 22" and my front at 21.5" with the weight of my bumper and winch.

i may end up having to go with the JBA 4's with 2 isos

does the 4 typically settle at 3 inches ?

let's just say in addition to the roughly 150-200lbs of cargo i carry

ive basically added 160lbs to the rear ontop of that

so.. i guess you could say i have an extra 300+ lbs of static weight

maybe i should see if marlin can get me a set of 400lb 3 inch lift springs

Nope. I am going to give the 4 inch Jeepin By Al's a go. If they don't work out, I will post here and let everyone know. The springs and drop link got here today, the shocks yesterday. The brake lines are still MIA...

It goes in next week for gears and tru-tracs, so I will have them throw all this on the back (if the brake lines get here) and we will see.

I have the air bags from summit and they work awesome. On road, offroad, doesnt matter. Just make sure you know what psi to put in them to keep the tires from rubbing the fender wells or to keep the shocks from bottoming out(on road also). The do not limit flex until you pump air in them and they work awesome for keeping the Jeep level.

Just remember if you have OME HD coils you will need a bigger bag than stock. Ive posted many posts with pics on the install and links to the air bags needed for the OME HD coils. :)

I'm not sure if this applies or not, but getting springs that were maybe an inch longer should work. Spring rate is in pounds per inch of deflection. If you've got X pounds back there, it will deflect Y inches. Lets say you had a 10 inch spring and it sagged 1.5" under your typical load. Making it longer will cause it to deflect a little more under the same load, but its final resting height should be higher.

The problem with this thought process is if the springs are actually getting worn out too much (settling too far) and not resisting the load. Somebody that knows more about springs on cars chime in here. I usually only specify them for spring loaded mechanisms, and the spring catalogs have not only spring rates, but published recommended max loads to keep the springs from taking a permanent set.

That causes spring "stacking" which over a short time will ruin the coil and accelerate the sagging(same principle as adding spacers).Keep the same height but get it made out of thicker wire for a higher spring rate, the only long term way to fix sagging.

Gears are going in now, UPS lost my brake lines (they said they delivered last Friday, but I was here)... the rest of the parts are here. So I will be yelling at UPS tomorrow.

I figured as much. Do they always use the same material for these springs? I know the little springs I spec have a variety of material choices (piano wire, stainless, spring steel, steel) and that also affects the rate. Might be one way to get around clearance issues, if any. All depends what is used currently though.

Ok, here it is Sept 25 and I finally got the brake lines and the rear lift put in.

Rear 4 inch Jeepin By Al Springs
Rear drop link
Rear Bilstein shocks from JBA
Rear SS brake line

Front remains the same with a CRD HD Frankenlift, with the spacer from the gassers and the red JBA A-arms.

The measurements with the usual load of junk in the back and a 1/2 tank of fuel are:

23 inches from center of hub to bottom of fender flare in the back (Still 22.5 inches in the front).

So that is dead on where I hoped to be... until it sags. I am considering the airbags to help it out around town... and eventually I will go to custom heavier duty springs that will stay at 23 inches with a Rock Lizard rear bumper and junk in the trunk.

Now I just have to get longer bumpstops on back, those 235/85 MTR's are doing a number on the rear outer fender right now (and the front inner fender still needs a little more trim and the washer bottle took one for the team).

I have the same problem in the rear. I use 2 hockey pucks + franky bumpstop as bumpstops. It still rubs at max flex. But I can not add any more bumpstop or I would be riding on the bumpstops.

Do you have more flex with the bilstein shocks than with the OME132L?
