It's almost hipocritical to say, because Libertys are loaded with plastic, but I personally don't like how much plastic they gave the JK. I kind of liked the more rugged, Jeep look of the TJ. That being said, the performance part of the JKs are sweet. And pretty much the best combination of a TJ and KJ.
But then against, you can get a decent TJ and use the extra cash to load it up with parts! If it's more of a trail rig/weekend vehicle, that's the way I'd go.
I'm with you way to much plastic. I mean come on the front grill is plastic isn't it?!!! First CJ/ Wrangler with that. But the rubicon is a great deal for what you get. I've seen 08 unlimited with less than 15000 miles for around 22000$
Yeah it's covered in plastic. A good aftermarket bumper would fix that, but it would be nice to come looking like a Jeep. My friend, drives a TJ, has rear ended 2 cars. Not a single mark on his bumer, but the other cars got messed up. It doesn't say much about his driving skills
, but just gives you a perspective of the stock bumper.
