so i bought my crd used 2 months ago. i looked under the dash the other day and noticed a unbundled wire coming from the ignition area. i went to grab it to look a bit closer and it fell right out of the plug it was apparently stuffed into. i traced its unbundled path through the firewall and into the fuse/relay box in the engine bay where it was spliced into another wire. now while it was undone from the ignition side, the starter wouldnt even power on, so i jammed it back in to a spot in the steering column plug hoping it would come back to life, and it did.
i have since left it alone trying to ignore the apparent quick fix of the previous owner. now the starter is starting to act up. i do know that this crd was originally a tow behind rv vehicle. my question is, is this wire a tow behind retro fix for something? or is this something that anybody else has heard of, maybe a fix for a starter problem?
thanks for any help.

Sounds like they had a hacked-up remote start in there or something. was there a break in the wire where it was spliced in under the hood? Can you trace enough of it out to find out what pin on what plug it goes to?

Go to the CRD tech section to get the link and download the KJ SM. It will remove all doubt on what the wire does.

If it was a tow behing with all 4 on the ground I believe the steering needs to be unlocked and that would mean the key left in the ignition and the wheel unlocked. this might be a anti theft measure :?:

I tried to follow the link to the manual download but the server is no longer there. Is there another place to find it?
