Saw this on JF - scary article

http://www.brewracingframes.com/id75.htm

The sites a little slow but wait for it. It's an eye opener - especially for anyone who welds

Kinda wish I'd have read this last week before using brake cleaner for the first time. I had a fan blowing from behind me past where I was spraying, and a few times I had to bail out from under the car. That stuff is nasty even when NOT burned.

As for the phosgene thing...I can't believe it can become that deadly and they don't specifically warn how to avoid that from happening.

just saw this on another forum and came back to post about it.

Pretty sure it will only create phosgene w/ Chlorinated brake cleaners and flame so use only non-chlorinated versions but still be careful breathing the stuff and espcially around flames or high heat as it is flammable. I use brake cleaner to clean a lot of parts on the car but I make sure to use it outside or w/ a fan to my back as the stuff stinks and can irritate.

Checked my Non-C labels and no mention of phosgene, etc.

Also be careful w/ flames and R12 refrigerant as it too can become phosgene, not sure about other refrigerants, maybe someone else knows? (not that R12 is common any more or used in the Jeep but just in case anyone plays w/ older cars)

And nothing kills wasps, hornets & yellow jackets faster than brake clean. Try it sometime, especially on a nest, you'll be amazed.
