Cheryl Johnson netted a cool $1 million after paying an extra $1 for the Power Play option on her ticket.

"He told me this morning, 'We were rich, but now we have money too,'" Johnson said, after her fiancé called her from work to tell her about their big win.

Lottery officials say Johnson moved from Grant, Nebraska to Thornton after getting engaged last February. The couple plans to wed in November.

The couple told lotto officials they buy a ticket for every drawing, but until this week they'd never won more than $100.

Johnson bought the ticket at Smart Stop, located at 5315 Marshall St., in Arvada. She and her fiancé have seven children and eight grandchildren between them and she says she plans to spend her winnings on them, but will save some for paying off bills and a new Jeep.
