an addition to my last post... so you went to school to become a truckologist

Yes
Well, while in HS, I was involved in a very advanced automotive class that was also a part time shop... In both my junior and senior years, I competed in both state and national competitions that offered really nice scholarships to different school.
At the end of my senior year, I had 3 choices,
1, take a full ride scholarship and become a ford factory trained mechanic,
2, take a 3/4th scholarship to DADC which is another diesel school
3, Find a automotive dealership that would sponsor me(give me a job) so I could do either the toyota T10 program, chrysler CAP, or the GM factory school
4, Work for a Caterpillar dealership....
Now #1 was a no go because I didn't want to spend a year in Nebraska and come back and have to find a job
#2, well lets just say we call DADC Denver Adult Day Care.....
#3 was a no go because 1, I couldn't find a dealership that would commit to me and 2, I didn't want to go to school for 8 weeks and then drive back to Denver from Farmington NM to work for 8 weeks and then drive back. # of my friends do the T10 program and ended up 12 grand in debt + their cost of tools. They also did the drive every 8 weeks for 2 straight years taking every including their tools to and from...
And last is number 4, In my mind it was a pretty good deal...In return for signing a 5 year contract, Wagner paid for my 2 year degree, provided 5K+ in tools as part of the contract and during the first 2 years, offered pay raises every 5 months at $1.20 a pop... so needless to say #4 was the better deal
