now I might have to find that study..
I remember reading one about the effects of WVO on diesels...its been a while..I was researching about using WVO vs biodiesel..
I seem to remember the wvo didn't fair so well long term..for the reasons you mentioned. coke rings and such..
but could diesel be made to handle WVO as is..sure..but many things would have to change..injectors, pump pressures, timing just to name a few
it is because of this that I don't favor WVO blends in diesels, except maybe older one in lower percentages..older like my DD8.2L..vintage '84...it has no injection pump..the finest filter is 10micron..put another way its a whole different engine than what's found in a Jeep..
for biodiesel/dino diesel blends..any ratio any time..as long as the mix doesn't gel!! this is a different question than WVO/diesel blend..why..just look at the viscosity of the fuels..biodiesel is almost the same as # diesel.. this mix doesn't separate..I can post pictures of my blend sample from last fall...still mixed..9+ months later.
regardless..if you want to run WVO/diesel blends make sure the WVO is DRY and filtered to 2micro absolute...otherwise you'll plug the Jeeps filter.. then you STOP!
