Ran by AutoZone last night to finish the CB install and grabbed the wrong add-a-circuit. I picked-up the normal bus fuse one, not a mini-bus one. Does anyone know, for certain (physically verified, not rumor), a store that sells the mini-bus type add-a-circuit?

Thanks for any help.

I picked up a mini at autozone and the fuse didn't fit in my fuse box. Package says mini, product FHM200BP, and i checked the product numbers on the Littlefuse site. I would swear somebody posted a picture of an add a circuit in the driver's side dash fuse panel, but i can't find it.

Can't remember which thread but here is a copy (small) of that pic that shows the mini installed.

I will try AZ again and see if they have the mini.

Thanks!

You don't have to use an add a fuse- you can just use a blade connector and plug into the Daytime running lights fuse box position (unless they changed from '02 or you have Daytime running lights.....) There are two hot terminals. One is hot all the time, and the other is hot as well, but anytime you turn on your CB.... you turn on the lights too!

let me know if you find something different that what i found. I'll try what i have, but i really don't think it fits; the blades on the fuse are different than the ones that are already in the fuse box. Can't tell from the picture if i bought the same thing, it looks the same on top, but obviously i can't see the size of blades of the fuse on the other side.

I basically did what calvin56 suggested when insalling my evic, i just have the wire being held in place by an existing fuse and it works fine. just wanted something a little cleaner.

AutoZone DOES carry the mini-bus add-a-circuit. Just picked one up.

OK, so any help or pics on using the daytime circuit available? I noticed none of the fuses are marked, guess I will break out the owners manual this evening.

Too bad the owners manual lies to you on where the fuses are and their job.

anybody know a good place to get power connectors? When I installed my CB, I ran a length of wire out and slapped a white plastic molex-style connector on it that I got from radio shack. The connector says that it is male and female, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how they are supposed to work. They do fit together, but the clip doesn't do anything and there are other random pieces of plastic sticking out for no apparent reason. I'd like to get a connector that can disconnect/reconnect easily and stay connected (and not short out on metal when there's nothing plugged in).

This is the one I got before:

Those little wings coming off? No idea what they are for, they don't line up with the other gender of this connector...

The clips are for use when mounting the connector in a panel. I hate Molex!!!! Anyway I use a two wire connector from the rat shack, it looks like a flat four trailer connector but only has two wires. The only problem is that you need to either solder or crimp the leads.

Do you remember which connector it was? I spent a long time looking around in there and failed to find anything that I thought would work well.

The stock number is 270-026. It’s normally by the CB antennas or the big car audio fuses. Here is a pic stolen from the rat shacks page.

I hope this helps.... btw make sure you connect the right side to the power so the if it is unplugged the hot side is not the one exposed

ahh, no wonder. I was looking in the cabinets of connectors, not on the wall by the CB stuff. I guess it makes sense they would put the CB wiring by the CB radios! I think I may try and do a reinstall, since I'm not really liking how I currently have it set up (and it keeps shorting out my cigarette lighter).

I’m not sure why it would short out unless the Molex connector is not in correctly, as stated above I hate Molex!!! If you reinstall you might have to find the connector on your own as I have little faith in most Rat shack employees. If it's not a cell phone or computer most have no clue.

Finished the CB install on Friday. The mini-bus add-a-circuit worked great! No line noise from the Cobra either.

Took the KJ and TJ out for a run on Saturday and they both worked great!

Hmm. I get noise whenever I operate the door locks (not that I do that often while I'm on the trail, mind you) or some noisy switches like fan, etc. I'm thinking of putting a large cap in-line with my ground wire, or maybe I'm not firing on all cylinders here?

agreed. Usually when they say "Can I help you find anything?" I either say "probably not" or I ask for something they don't have to get them out of my hair. :-)

The reason mine was shorting out was because the connectors I got suck, and the conductors keep falling out (and never really crimped well in the first place. Hopefully I have better luck when I get the connector from the CB section.
