Changed my trans fluid and filters earlier this month, and took a sample from the inside of the pan after carefully lowering it from the trans. Sent it off to Blackstone, and this is what I got.

Thanks for the post.

Never saw an ATF UOA before, but your #s look good according to Blackstone.

What oil did you replace it with?

Not saying that the numbers are bad, how can they claim that the numbers are with in spec? Have their been mutable samples taken? The real value of UOA's is the trend of multi samples over the life of the vehicle.......

Its based on the fluid they've seen from the same type of transmission over the years, same way they do their oil analysis.

Valvoline ATF +4 was the only one I could find enough of as one brand to refill with. I would have preferred Royal Purple or Mobil 1, but both of the ATFs I could find for them was not ATF +4, only recommended for ATF +4 applications. As well as every other application they could fit on the back of the bottle. . .

IIRC, it took 7 quarts to refill it. I think changing the filters made a big difference in the amount of old fluid we got out; at least an extra quart. Plus we left the pan off and let it drain for a good 3 hours while enjoying BBQ Brisket and other assorted goodies.

Digger, when I read the first line of the UOA, my first thought was, "So you're saying that my 55K fluid looks like 91.5K fluid?" Then I realized that they used that as an average baseline for comparison to mine. I didn't realize the service interval was that long - since the interval is NOT EVEN LISTED in the owner's manual.

http://gravediggerfreek.googlepages.com ... ements.pdf

This is not foreign soil, you're both a Moderator and a friend. Your input is both appreciated and desired. Plus there's no one IN the KK section. . .

The KJ is on that list, 2005 - 2007 is 6th from the bottom on the first page. I didn't know about that bulletin (by the way, how did you get that?) but I was concerned about having a flush done anywhere but at the dealer for that very reason. I avoid the dealer like a room full of lepers that also have swine flu, so I just dropped the pan, drained as much fluid as possible, changed the filters, and refilled with Chrysler approved ATF +4. My only regret is that I didn't go ahead and install the Transgo shift kit. Oh well, there's always 110K for that. . .

As far as why I did it? Mainly for peace of mind. The transmission components are a known weak link in CRD's, so I would prefer to err on the side of preventative maintenance rather than costly repair. Since I was able to do it myself (well, with the help of 2 awesome members, mcinfantry and KJ 119) it cost about $70 between the two filters and the fluid as opposed to $250 I was quoted by a trusted local mechanic. No harm, no foul, and peace of mind = priceless.

You've confused me. The KJ is listed in that PDF you've posted.
Additionally, what you've posted refers to flushing. Are you saying/implying that you think changing his fluid @ 55k wasn't necessary?

You so funny

That TSB is directly from Chryco's Dealerconnet web site... Every few months I spend the 20 bucks for a one day access pass to update the KK TSB Section as needed

As far as people in the KK section.... I think I remember a guy with a Nitro over there

I also hate stealerships like the plague..... So far, it seems like the manual trans fluid is only good for 30K in most cases..

I do all of my own work. It is way way cheaper and I find it fun, however I am a diesel mechanic so I it just fun to play with something smaller than a CAT D8T dozer

I didn't read the whole list of vehicles.... and no. I am pro flush/change. If it were mine, I would be doing the filter and fluid every 20K to 25K
