If this is the same video that someone posted to the Unimog mailing list awhile back, the rig that wend under water was based on a 404 Mog. Even with that smaller Mog, you'd have a hard time mating a unibody like a Liberty to that frame and still account for the frame flex inherent in all Mogs. You'd be better off just getting a 404 (or if you like the CRD, get a 406 or a 416 like mine...diesel) and wheel it as-is. They are amazing beasts.

I think the "nuts" part was not prepping well for it. I've used a pond like that (as a way to avoid cutting trees), and we didn't know how deep it was. One thing I assumed was a good slope away from shore, so I used a strap between the frame rail and an onshore tree as a pivot. Water got up to about 5' deep on the driver's side, but the strap kept me from sliding sideways into the deeper stuff like that guy did.

I do wonder what his copilot was saying during that episode, though...

I actually have surprisingly few pix of trails, since I'm the photographer *and* the driver. (For some reason, my wife won't tangle with the 7 shift levers!) But here's one of part of a trail in Western Oregon...

Image

And another from the rear...

This Unimog is *almost* stock. I've got some pictures that show off the trail capability a bit better, but apparently none that I can point to for the forum right now. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how capable my CRD is with a mild lift and a rear limited slip(mandatory KJ Content)...but it's no Mog.

That's what I'm talking about.
I want one that floats so I don't go into that cold water, did you see that guy's face when he came out of the front door? He looked a little bit shocked.

depends on which part of the rig you are talking about...the frame, axles, and motor are unimog. I can't tell you where they got the body though...

The body of the red vehicle that got submerged looks like a smaller SUV, about the Liberty's size, but a little smaller. It's only a 2-door. Maybe it's a Toyota, Lexus, or even a Mercedes? Probably something Russian...

That just has to be some of the best STUCK I have ever seen. Even the guy on the 4-wheeler got stuck! Awesome! And that mud pit was just SICK!!!

Well, after a bit of research...it seems that Lagoda Trophy (listed as the first credit in the movie) is much like the old Camel Trophy...if the Camel were smoking crack.

Check it out!!! Who wants to help put together an American Liberty team?
