The Smittybilt XRC-8 Comp Winch (with 94' of 5/16" Dyneema SK-75 Ultra-12 Yale single braid 8000 lbs. synthetic line) is mounted on the WARN Front Receiver Mount Winch Cradle, which is secured to the Front Receiver Hitch with a MasterLock locking receiver hitch pin. I haven't had time to run the Quick-Disconnect yet, but the winch is currently wired up semi-permanently (making the portability of it somewhat limited right now...)
Hopefully Fri morning when I get in, I'll finish the wiring so the unit can be stored in the cargo area when not needed (as opposed to hanging off the nose effecting the approach angle...)
Thanks to Mitch for his proof of concept that it really could work...
BTW, the actual synthetic rope listed above is the real name of the line provided with the XRC-8 Comp Winch. It sells for about $2/ft. through sail rigging distributors and there are articles online telling how to attach metal eye-hooks, etc. Though rated at 8,000 lbs, in this application, it actually has a tensile strength of 13,500 lbs and only weights 2.8lbs/100' length.
