I bought my bumper from RockyRoad Outfitters and had it installed at a local shop a few days ago. I realized yesterday there should be a license plate relocation bracket included with the bumper (for when a winch is installed). I went back over there today and they said there wasn't one. I don't know if there really wasn't one in the box, or they just didn't need it during the install and trashed it. I also looked at some other pictures of installed ARBs and it looks like there is a rubber seal around that top plate which covers the opening on the top. They said they don't know anything about that either. What should I do?

RR may not have included the License plate bracket. They havent had the best track record, but it also may have been lost during shipping, or the shop trashed it.

I wouldnt worry about it, its hard to tell who is at fault in this, the product has been handled many times. from ARB to RR, RR to shipping company to local shop, to your KJ. I wouldnt worry about the top plate thing..

Mine was used but I got everything that the PO had including some extra bolts, but no license plate holder or rubber seal around the top plate it was just mounted down flat. I wouldn't worry about it really can make up a bracket if you get a winch easy enough

you could probably order one from ARB, or i saw in a 4WD Harware catalog i got yesterday, if you have a roller fairlead, you can get a license plate holder that either JUST snaps onto the rollers on the front of the fairlead, and you can pop it off completely when you need to use the winch. OR there is another one that bolts down to the top of the fairlead, using the roller fairlead bolts, and hinges up when you need to use your winch and snaps into place on the rollers at the bottom.

for the rubber, you could go to an automotive shop, and get some small/thin weather stripping that is made to go in door openings over the "pinch welds" or some other rubber trim and make yourself a rubber edge for the cover plate, even some more flexible door edge guard might work, but that stuff might be too stiff. maybe find some black thin rubber/silicon fuel hose, such as for mowers or weed wackers etc. and slice it down the middle, which will probably be tough, but is almost/somewhat close to what it comes with originally

*scratches his head* ummm why did you have someone else put on your bumper? It really is not that hard to do. Only about 4 hours of work if you keep checking and rechecking the instructions.

My TJs bumper did not come with a license plate mount... I fabbed a nifty lil' one using a block of wood, black paint, and plopped it into the space for the winch fairlead... when/if I get a winch in there, I'll deal with it somehow (finding an income will have to come first).

Hmm. You should've had the license bracket, the rubber grommet and a handful of other hardware left over for mounting the winch. Unless the bumper was used, it's unlikely that RR or ARB sent only exactly what the shop needed to mount a winchless bumper and nothing more. All the hardware comes in one big box. They either got it or they didn't. I know that's the case for the 2002-2004 bumpers, anyway. Even if ARB accidentally left out the bracket or the grommet, you should have something left over, even if it's just the winch mounting hardware. Sounds to me like the shop junked the "leftovers." Like the others said, it's not that big a deal. You can pretty easily pick up whatever you'd need if/when you do put the winch on. BTW, the bumper shell does need to come back off in order to mount a winch. Just a matter of unbolting it.
