Tentative Dates:
Sat April 3rd to Sat April 10th - Right at the end of EJS
Sat April 10 to Sat APR 17

Please consider these facts when making your decision:

EJS is over on Easter Sunday - So, if you get to Moab either Friday, Sat or even sunday, you probably will have to deal with crowds. Accommodations might be harder - Specially hotels. I think renting condos will probably still be ok

Tax day is right in the middle of the second option

More information will start showing up in the next few weeks as we start getting organized for this great event.....

Stay tuned

Didn't vote for either date. April is right in the middle of busy season at work - can't get time off

I thought 10-17 was already decided...

Depends on which 2nd week of April everyone meant I guess. 2nd actual week or 2nd full week of April.

Well if has to be April, I would have to lean towards 10th - 17th.

Just wondering, would the East Coast Safari be in the fall of 2010?

Yup, sometime between August and October.

No 3 day holiday in August, but some schools may still be out and those with kids might want to bring them.
Sept. 6, Mon. is Labor Day., Oct. 11, Mon. is Columbus day.
But, as always....
ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYHOW, I'LL BE THERE! (G*d and wifey willing  )

I'd rather have dryer weather for ECS2010, but this is the LJS2010 thread, so...

I was camping in Moab a few years back and got caught in a blizzard on April 1st. Woke up with 1.5" of snow on the tent (got down to 25 that night!) So, if it has to be April, the later the better in my opinion. May would be nice too!

We had family (wifeys niece) that lived and worked in Moab recently and she said June and September were the two best months to visit. Just saying...

I have never been to Moab, but I have been as far north as Blanding and wouldn't suggest the summer months. I have been to Monument Valley in August and it was 100 degrees. I live in Phoenix, so heat isn't my biggest concern, but it might be to someone from Wisconsin. I think anytime in April would be perfect. Moab is only 10 1/2 hours away from me, so I'd be in for anytime in April!

I was going to volunteer to help, but it looks like you got everything squared away. What's the nozzle forecast look like?

I have been camping in Moab for Memorial weekend and it is killer hot at that time of the year.

The crowds are gone by mid-afternoon on Saturday. Hotels are available that night. If you're traveling on Saturday, you can get a hotel easily on Saturday night and hit the trails on Sunday morning.

Or, if you plan ahead and are going to be there on Saturday, you can participate in Super Saturday with the Red Rock club. Everyone should to that at least once.

Looks like Sat April 10 to Sat APR 17 is the favorite
Lets start thinking about these being the official dates for this event

I think an 82% can be considered a done deal

FYI
Couple of things that I found out about Moab and our dates picked for this event

We might have struck gold on choosing April 10th to the 17th (which most likely is the case)

EJS, Moab Car Show, Moab Mountain Rally, 4th Annual Moab UTV Rally....

All these will be held either right before or right after our event - I have two notifications from two different people in Moab about lodging and it was mentioned that April will be a really busy month for them

so, please, start making reservations now....
