I have 27,000 miles on my 08 and noticed that my tires need to be replaced (not bald, just slip and slide easily now). Anyone else have to replace their tires early? Seems like Goodyear Fortera's should go longer than that. I had Bridgestone Duelers on my 03 KJ and loved those tires, may switch to those.

I dont know about those but the GoodYear Wrangler STs i had were horrible and 99% of everyone would agree

Tires are tricky..

Some cars get tires that are desgined for them.
other cars and truck and jeeps get what fits and is cheepest...

I feel the Googyears we got are cheap and fit....

I would look on here, and tire rack, read the reviews and go with what is in budget.
There are trade offs no matter what.
But rotate every 5k miles and keep them filled to the right PSI for you every month.

This will extrend the life of most tires.

I see new tire claiming to save you 100 gallons of gass over the life of the tires. well that is $300.. sorry that is not enough of a saving for me.

A savings of $300 is not good? IF that were the case in a perfect scenario and a set of tires could save you $300 or more, how is that not good or enough? I would think that ANY savings is better then no savings.

mike i think he means by the quality of the tire or what its meant ot do which is give traction... saving 300 dollars aint worth it if when it rains or snows the road is like you personal ( very large) slip n slide

Saving $300 is nice. You are right.
A saving is a saving...
That might even pay for 1 or 2 tires in the end....

I just expect more.. With where we are right now, they should be able to do better.

There is a new Nano tube technonly for tires, that has not hit the road yet.
This needs to hit the road sooner, so it can get cheap....

THis new nano tubes, can give you a tire that last for 100K miles but also give you trackion like a tire rated at 120 tread wear...
