You may have a problem with this bumper anyway, as it is being designed for the 02-04 front end. People with 05-06 will need to swap grilles at the very least, and possibly fender flares and maybe other parts.

I thought RL was going to make one for the 05-06 ???? No mention was made about switching bumpers and grilles

You have to consider that `02-04's have been waiting a lot longer than `05 and `06's for some good steel bumpers. Plus there are a lot more of them. Wait your turn please.

“I will be taking the design plans in on Tuesday, so should have front bumper prices for you guys by the end of the week. Relocating the washer bottle was cake, so you guys don't have to stress about that. In a few weeks, I will get ahold of the 05+ KJ and start on those bumpers.”

So I take it for a better fit the washer bottle has to go or be moved. And if we own a CRD, we might as well just get rid of it altogether, unless you have figured out an alternate location???

”I still need to get ahold of a CRD before I can tell you for sure.”

He still needs to work out the details of the later front end and he will update us soon I am sure. I DO Not beleive he ever mentioned swapping grills, I believe FreedomKJ made that statement.

Yep, keep your grills.:D The washer bottle has to go, though. Easy fix, except for the CRD, which I still have to get ahold of. 05-06's will have your own bumper, and it should come out about the same time as the 02-04. Please be patient with me. These bumpers have been numero uno and I haven't even touched all my XJ products that need to get going as well. I just finished up the 02-04 front bumper design and am working on the plans to give to the manufacturer on Tuesday or Wednesday this week and should get the price quotes for you all by the end of the week. I'm taking tomorrow off though so I can finally pick up my front D44 full width axle for my junk. I need a day off once in awhile.:D This 9am to 2am stuff gets a little rough after a couple of weeks.

I hope I didnt come off as an impatient A**... I wasnt expecting the statement that was made. As far as the bottle, small sacrifice for a WAY better bumper.
You definately deserve more than 1 day off. any hoo keep up the great work.

No, you didn't. This is the internet, so I know it takes a lot more to prove someone is being a problem, and no one on here is...so far.:D I was a little thrown myself on the grill thing, but that sort of thing happens and it's no big deal.

RL-do the XJ guys give you as much trouble as we do when you build them bumpers and sliders?

Not usually, they just go to the competitors since everyone and their brother makes XJ parts. My XJ customers are usually pretty faithful and patient once they become a customer.

I in no way meant to say that RL wasn't making a bumper for 05 and 06. I just meant that the bumper that is mocked up in those pics wouldn't fit an 05 or 06 without mods to the front end of the vehicle. Sorry for stirring up trouble! ;)

BTW, it looks pretty impressive so far, keep up the good work!

No trouble, just a misunderstanding. Your statement was basically correct, just confused some people.

Is there space in the cavity of the front bumper to fit a new washer bottle?

*Duck* Dodge*Weave* Just checking for ideas. Hey! You guys can throw pretty hard. *Dodge* *Jump*

There is room in the bumper, but making one fit that you can fill would be the trick...

I got a 1.5 QT bottle and made it fit between the core support and the airbox, or if you do not have the electrical stuff in the upper passenger side corner you can get a 2.5 QT one and set it up like Wally did.

The 1.5 QT is $7 at Auto Zone, the 2.5 is $10

Real cheap and easy to install. I need a funnel or real steady hnd to fill mine as the filler is kinda low. If you can put it where Wally did, it will be easier to fill.

The bottles are soft, so easy to make holes. If you do not care about the sending unit, you can use the pump w/o the sending unit. I may modify my set up and do that.Mine works, but the low wash signal comes on at 1/4 full due to the height I had to mount it.

Ted, I was thinking of the lack of space for the CRD's. Not us gas hogs.

Maybe this will work in the cavity of the bumper:

But I would feel better putting in it what was meant to go in it.....LOL!

Got some great pictures of the CRD in front of the airbox today, in the same area Ted put his, and I think the 1.5Q bottle will actually work there. Still going to find one locally and maybe set the 1.5Q bottle in there to double check, but I think it will work based on those measurements I received.

Guys, I just had a great idea.

the 1st gen Isuzu Troopers (had one:P) had a bag-like washer fluid reservoir for the rear washer. Find one in a junkyard, yank it, and hang it inside the bumper, and drill a hole in the top of the bumper for easy filling;)

just kidding about cutting a hole in the bumper...but a filler neck shouldn't be too hard.

just a thought;)

If you find a bag style washer fluid container you can mount it in many different placees in the engine bay, there is no need to worry about a funnel for placing it in the bumper

Good news CRD guys. Took a peak at a CRD today, and looks like the 1.5Q coolant bottle will fit in two possible places. Will keep you updated when we actually put one in. The 1.5Q bottle that Ted put in is 02 KJ is working out great, no leaks or anything. Should have the first front bumper prototype ready in less than four weeks.
