hacked it off today.. and think it looks great. had to reattach the flare with some rivets from the inside but it's on there really good now. also had to wire tie up some wires.. and do ALOT of cutting (both bumper and reinforcement). i slotted the bumper so i can move the plate up but ran out of time and couldnt make the brackets i want to reattach it without drilling more holes in the plate.. it also got a nice wash.. so now you can see it's just red.. not two toned brown/white.

cut till they dont rub

thanks for the good remarks.. if i were to do it again i'd angle the sides down a little more and avoid cutting through the clip that holds the flare on... then i wouldnt have had to add more rivets on the inside. oh well it works and is prob. on there better than before.

also after driving in a lot of snow/slush today i noticed you can hear slush/chunks of snow hitting the bumper or whatever it's hitting a lot more now than before. still worth it

If it ever warms up in MN i am going to do this. Was out deer hunting last saturday in a blizzard in SD. Plowing through snow all day. When got back to heated shop took a hour or so to get all the snow and ice off. The rear bumper had to have at least a hundred pounds tucked up in there. Also found a ton of mud that was really old. A lot of extra weight I dont need to be driving around with.

wat did you use to cut it...im thinking about just cutting the little curve piece on it so mud does not get lodged in behind it

i used a mini air powered reciprocal saw
Image

and a sawsall to cut the reinforcement behind the bumper.

it is nice not having to worry about cleaning all the crap from under it... and having snow and slush built up on the bottom.
