Chris, it is always hard to call these type of decisions. If it was me I go with your orginal plan................. I think :!:

Anyone know off the top of their heads where to get Auto fluid from and the specs - need a flush and clean after some new year frolics

Not actually sure of the spec, but imagine it would just be a fully syn auto fluid,

Just a tip, add in a bottle of "Lucas auto transmission fix" as well, it certainly helped my little box of cheese graters out a bit, you can get it at Supercrap

Check out http://centerforqa.com/licensedatf4brands.html. It lists all the (American) products that are licenced by Chrysler as compatible with their ATF+4 specification, which is what you should be using.

I'm amazed I can still laugh.

This morning started the car, high pitch whiring under the bonnet, goes up and down with engine revs, must be a pulley or a bearing , maybe aircon - powersteering or alt.

This just keeps getting better and better.

Looked at a Mitsubihi Triton last night, so I think The Belafonte is just getting back at me.

I got a message saying he needs it until Feb when his new CRD JK arrives, so as he can take his wife to hospital. Seems odd as before when I first asked about when he said anytime as they had a pathfinder as well that they could drive. It all depends on whether I have to spend mucho spendolies yet again on mine just to keep it driving on bitumen. I'll go down to Jeep again this arvo and see if they can point out what this new noise is. I'm just amased yet again another unrelated failure, again, within days of fixing an unrelated failure. Whats next????

Well February is only two weeks away, hopefully he will further discount for your inconvienience. He probably traded the Pathfinder on the JK. The fact that he is buying another Jeep CRD is promising for you (I think) as there is a chance he may have actually looked after it. Get him to commit to a handover date or 'tell him he's dreaming'! :banghead:

While he's considering that, keep looking you never know what might pop up. This one looks very nice, is close by, and is a CRD manual, but not your colour. Still they don't pop up that often.

Its the serpentine belt tensioner pulley bearings about to go, Best bit is you cant just buy the pulleys from Jeep, you have to buy the entire belt tensioner assembly, $400.00.

This must border on unfair trading practices, that you have to replace entire assmblies instead of just the parts, which should be just a few dollars, I'm thinking of going to the ACCC.

So yet again, more money wasted, I have to spend it, as The jeep has to be going to go.

Chris,, it might be worth your time to check with George at VM UK on what he might charge for that tensioner. Given his 60% savings on the timing belt parts you might be able to get this for way less. We should not reward Chrysler Australia for their insane pricing practices.

Glend its not a VM, its the V6 and I cant wait a week as they are completely buggered (about to castistrophicly fail) and I MUST have a vehicle to get me to work, They have my nuts in their hand and they are squeezing as tight as they can. My complaint is the practice of being forced to buy a whole replacement assembly instead of what all others do and make the individual components avalible for purchase..I should be able to buy just the pully I need not two pullys and the entire tensioner arm.

Heck, lucky they put a sump plug in the bottom of the engine, other wise the first service would have been expensive.

"No we cant change the oil, you have to buy a new engine.... Its our part policy, we only sell complete assembled parts'"

Would be greatly appreciated, Im not sure which one it was, the smooth or the grooved, but the bearing should be interchangable.

Glen Thats exacly what I'm talking about, 87.00 for the original Mopar part, Surely it must be against the Fair trading practices act to charge soooooo much mark up on such items.. I cannot see how it can be allowed..

You know I was just trying to hold out with mine until this guy gets his JK and then I get that 2.5 , but, I'm almost over Jeeps again at the moment.. I love the things, but, its just dispairing how many failures I've had in the last 18mth from driving 30km each day to work on city roads.

i have my spare tensioner here, it did have a click on it but if you can use one of the two bearings its all yours
