Are they already on sale? I thought that doesn't start until March? Let me know and I'll be heading out there as soon as I can.

scoobysnax whats your location is NYC, are you around Long Island?

They start selling the permits in January, I just like to get mine around February. They only sell a certain number of permits and the cut off date for the permits is April. I got one last year and used it to go to the beach at Gilgo (tried my hand at fished but no luck :( ) and plan on doing the same this year. I think LI_KJ is getting one too. He's around here somewhere :goink:.

That makes 3 KJs for the permit.

anyone else?

Some food for thought, this is some of the stuff that you'll need to have in your KJ when you head out to the beach.
I just carry around a cheap fishing role, a 14 dollar toilet from Richard's sporting goods, a shovel to dig myself out in case i get stuck, a jackboard to put the jack under, a snatch strap, and an air compressor. Some beaches dont have an airing up station so thats why you should carry one, and dont be cheap when you buy an air compressor because you'll hate yourself later :jester: .

Im good for all of this following week except for wednesday. Week after that is all open.
Lets get some dates going and see who can show! Or is this going to be like the trail run we were supposed to have :banghead:

Hey ya'll.
I'm free Thursday if ya wanna try for a trek out to get permits, or a run.
Picked this up last week
Image
So now we have two snatch straps between us. How much mileage is there at the state beaches you've been on? Do you know if the permit also would work for a state park like Caumsett to drive out to the LI sound along the Fishermans Drive?

Demo is pretty big, i dont know how many miles. A good place for fishing for blues and stripers from what i heard.

Image

Gilgo is ok not to big but its a good place to go to the beach in the summer. These are the only beaches ive been with the permit so far, i havent tried the other ones yet because i dont want to go alone and get stuck alone... :ALONE:

Thursday sounds good to me, i just have to make sure of something first.
Seems like me and LI_KJ will be the only ones getting the permit, since no one else is checking in. what a shame. :(

Hey. I think I should be able to make it on Thursday if that is still happening.. What time were you thinking about meeting up? Hopefully sometime in the morning-ish would be good.

I also have a recovery strap, I have to put my hitch back in.. and do you think I really need to put my gas tank skid in? I have all my other ones, that one is just a pain, very heavy.

I'm assuming every vehicle needs their own equipment right? Since we're together we cant share the necessary equipment (flare, fire extinguisher, etc) correct?

Also I think we might need this as well now. They implemented a saltwater fishing license for the State of New York last year.
http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/54950.html
So if we do, we're going to have to find a place to get it.

Anyway, hope this happens.

Dean, you dont need the mariners fishing license. You only need to get that if you are actually going fishing. I got it last october because i wanted to try my hand at fishing but the fishing didnt go to well. :? (didnt catch sh^%t!) If you do wanna try fishing you can get the license at a sports authority with 10 dollars.

You'll do fine with out the tank skid, just make sure you have an engine skid because we will be doing some sand plowing if all this does happen :JEEPIN:

Like i said the only things you'll need is a jack board, a good air compressor, a shovel, a strap, and a toilet.

Im good all day to meet up.

Cool, I guess I got some work to do..

So I don't need a fishing pole? I thought this was a "fishing" permit. I'm confusing myself, lol.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind owning one. And I don't want to get in trouble, no need for the 5-0 to bother us. I gotta stop at Home Depot and get a jack board, and I'll pick up their 5-gallon bucket as my porta-potty, lol. And I'll use it in the KJ to organize everything. Cool, so it looks like this is going to happen. Let's see for sure who is coming.

Lets meet up near the LIE like you suggested. Whats a good time for you? 9 or 10? Dean said he wanted to get out earlyish, so I'm cool with that. I'n not sure of where the Sbarros bldg is, but I guess we can work on the location.
