Hate to revive an old post but this is freakin' ridiculous!
My wife got stopped last night for the right taillight (running light) not working. OK, I put in LED's a year ago because the others wouldn't last a week. That LED looked like it had gotten hot and the base was cracked. No continuity through the contacts. Put in a regular bulb and after a 30 minute drive with lights on checked and the right lens was very warm, driver side was cool. Pulled the bulb and looks like someone took a bite out of it! About 1/3 of the glass had broken off. Checked the voltage, 12.5 with engine off, 13.4 with engine idling, 13.95 with engine at 3000rpm. That shouldn't be enough to pop the bulb?
Has anybody had any luck resolving this problem? I'll probably order another set of LED's since this one did last about a year.
Thanks

Found this video which may explain the problem and fix: http://www.ltd-cars.com/movie-1/jeep-li ... hHi_ts.htm

I'll be out of town for a couple weeks so won't be able to try this until I get back. If anybody tries it and it works let us know.

OK, so I bought a bulb socket off ebay and so far it is working going on 2 months.
This is with a regular bulb.
Hope this helps someone else.
