no relay? or anything?
thinking about doing this as well!

Yeah, it's easy as that. These LEDs are set up to work with a 12 volt system, and draw little power, so pretty much plug and play. On my '07 Sport, it didn't come with the foot well lights, but the wiring is already there.. so all you have to do is tap into it and it works like factory.
Doing the puddle lamps are a little annoying, because you have to feed the wires through the door harness, take off the door panel and take off the mirror. A little time consuming. But not terrible. The only thing I would do differently is add another light to the inside of the door facing down, or at the bottom of the door. The LED on the mirror produces great light when you're getting into the truck. But when you're getting out, the light is on the outside, it doesn't illuminate where you will actually be stepping. Enough ambient light comes from the dome light so its not terrible, but while you're running wires and have the door panel off, might as well do it all at once.

Any other questions, let me know!

I'm not sure about the Liberty, if the cluster uses actual replaceable bulbs, or its on the circuit board. I know in the HVAC unit is is on the circuit board and not bulbs ( I think, lol )
My brother did this on his Dodge Van (which had replaceable bulbs that you can swap out), and it really didn't make a difference, if anything I like the the original bulbs better, probably because there was a bluish tint film to make the gauges that funny green/blue. Some bulbs were burnt out that's why he bought LEDs.. But as surfRenegade mentioned, the LED bulbs do not spread the light evenly enough, some places are noticeably darker than other areas.

The outback used a replaceable bulb in the cluster. Wedge base #194 is what the Outback took. since I never installed them I wonder if I can use them somewhere in the liberty. the LED's will replace #'s 194, 168, 158, 12256, 12961

This is what I have 4 of in cool white http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fspecs%2Fwled-whp6.htm

actually... if you flip them they don't work at all!
they do not glow, but I only have the front two in... eventually I will be getting the others though.
