Do you have a family? Younger or older kids? Desire to deal with traffic jams? Want to use light rail to and from work? Free for military!!!

Plains (more chance for land and cheaper) or close to mountains (more expensive and less land) but closer to the trails and everything great about the Rockies. Urban sprawl? Lots of things to do big city urban style.

Wife and I are both Active, three boys, ages 9, 10, and 13. Prefer to stay off of any public transportation due to CO's stupid CCW law. Of course not a fan of traffic Jams either... :?

Are there any particular areas or neighboring towns that I want to stay out of? We found a beautiful log home in Conifer last night. My concern is winter in the mountains and making it in to work... Conier is about 2000' higher than Denver, valid concern, or are the roads maintained pretty well?

Who else is actually in the Denver area?

CDOT does a bang up job of keeping 70 open. So I wouldn't worry to much about getting to work. Plus there are a lot of side streets that you can use to save you time. If you go 70 to east bound 6th ave, it will run you right in to the heart of downtown. Dave and I are really the only two active Denver metro members.

Looking at a couple properties at upper elevation (8,000'). A couple in Conifer and one in the town of Evergreen. Looks like CO 285 and US 74. Not to worried about the major highways, but up there any chance of getting snowed in or do they do a good job on those roads too?

Na, they do a pretty good job. I can only think of a few times that stuff was shut down. The biggest problem you might have is getting out of your neighborhood. If you can make it to a main/major street, you will be just fine.......We are use to white death out here unlike some other states :ROTFL:

I'm sure we can get a KJ or KK up there to pull you out :goink:

But really, the last few times things have shut down, it was during blizzards. We are very good at moving snow and opening up the main arteries.........

Yeah, most of the time, if denver gets 1-3, the foot hills get 2-4 or 3-6. Temps are usually a little colder to. Also, you need to understand that weather in Colorado is :ROTFL: :ROTFL: You can have snow flying side ways one minute, sun the next minute and sunshine and snow falling after that :ROTFL:

Oh weathermen/women have the worst track record in the country

Worse than the 2-4" we were supposed to get here today? I've got 14" on the ground now, and it's still going.

Seriously though, if the foothills only get a little bit more, I'm not to concerned.
