I have searched the forum and haven't found an exact answer for what I am experiencing. I get a loud deep squeak from the left front shock when going over a speed bump/pot hole. It sounds like something needs to be greased maybe? In another thread I read something about a shock bushing? Any help is appreciated. thanks!

I do most of my maintenence myself, but I am not a pro by any means!

Sounds like an antisway bar bushing squeeking due to the cold weather ... you can try spraying some silicone on it and see if it goes away. When the warmer weather comes along all will be good again.

Wow. I have the same problem. Speed bumps at work cause the same issue. I have 76,000 miles and I assumed I needed new shocks. My subaru did the same thing at 180,000. I'll try the sway bar bushings... although I don't remember a sway bar in front.

Could be your(both of you) Lower Ball Joints. Check them and if so get thee to the dealer and have them throw new free units in (I understand because of the recalls these are covered for life...if not get moogs, service them and enjoy the life of the vehicle)

Now that would be cool. I had the ball joints fixed ages ago. I heard though that the part was made better. I've never heard of people on this board getting a 2nd set. I am not sure that's it though. It seems like ball joints would "clunk" more where as mine is a solid "creak"

For the life of one replacement of the OE set? So if the OP did not do this yet under the recall they would be eligible.

yes of course if the recall has not been done it will be done free. However if it has and the refuse to fix the replacement bad lbj's then get moogs and service them reg. (add grease...) and they will last th elifetime for most users...

I get that same sound every winter. It goes away in the spring when it warms up. The dips in the road grow every winter and shrink in the spring. I live with it.

I don't think the LBJ's have been replaced, it would be great if the dealer would change them for free. thanks for all the help!

+1

Every oil change, I take my front sway bar bushings off (do it one at a time and it's easier), clean and spray them inside with some silicone. Quiet as a mouse for another year.

Well thanks to this post, I got relief.
I have had a deep squeak off and on for 3 weeks. It would sound horrible going over bumps and going through slow turns, and then the sound would go away. I did not think "ball joints" until this post. I just got back from the dealer and the ball joints were shot. The dealer replaced them at no charge and said that there is a lifetime warranty on ball joints.

Now that they are changed, I can't believe the difference in how the jeep handles and the new stiffness of the steering again. I was a dolt not to notice that my wheels were coming off.
