Just think how our CRD's may have turned out had DC had such testing procedures

At least it was a good start for mods.

I read in Automotive Weekly that GM approached Tata about rebadging them as Saturns and selling them at Saturn dealers. Tata said no way and has approached Saturn dealers about handling them  For those who don't already know it, Tata ownes Land Rover and Jaguar along with Tetley tea amoung other things.
http://www.tata.com/

To buyers that would mean a established dealer network

sounds like a GM move, approaching a company asking to sell a product the company they asked didn't actually make the product that GM wanted! LOL!!!!

TATA is not Mahinda. What you say is like Toyota asking Ford to sell Silverado trucks to Toyota.

The way things are going, they are never going to go on sale in the U.S. anyway. They've already delayed the launch two or three times. The last I heard was February...well it's February and where are they?

That's why I posted the link: http://mahindranc.com/mahindra_trucks.html You can place an order at select dealerships.

Yea, but for delivery in what year?

I don't know about other people, but I'm not interested in buying anything that expensive sight-unseen. I want to sit in it and test drive it, even if I have to order one. I'm not pre-ordering vaporware. Sadly, I've been disappointed too many times by promises of "the next big thing" like a diesel in the Ford Ranger size instead of the F350 or any builder offering a diesel hybrid serial powertrain.. Or even a decent "extended range hybrid" (serial powertrain) that actually makes it to market, instead of "two years away" forever.

I'm STILL skeptical about the Chevy Volt making it to market. Wasn't that supposed to be a 2010 model? Those started hitting last September, and aren't long for the manufacturing cycle...

Our Jeeps were/are hard to get service on and parts for. But at least we do have a ton of full-fledged Jeep dealerships around to TRY and help us. With these Mahindra trucks...you're going to be driving a vehicle never seen here before, with no true full fledged dealerships around for help. You're basically at the mercy of getting help from overseas. I think these are going to end up being even more of a niche vehicle than the KJ CRD ever was. :dead:

To the contrary, Mahindra is making a concerted move towards taking a share of the market. This means close association with the dealers, (a number of which will be free standing) and adequate parts availibility. Mahindra has already addressed this in their press and dealer info releases.

Contrast this with Jeep, who more than doubled their estimated CRD sales numbers, in spite of a concerted effort to NOT sell any. Immagine what M&M will be able to accomplish if they just try.

The Mahindra website lists at least 3 dealer locations in my area, but does not identify them except by town. One of the major factors in possibly going to Mahindra as a change out to the Jeep (unless they start making a US diesel again) would be the dealer. Unless and until I could find the info on a specific dealer I have no interest.

THey show in the dealer map a few locations not far away in cities close by but nothing in my town and no names of the dealerships.

I think the Trucks look a little dorky but the SUV is not too bad looking. If I had to replace my liberty I would look at one. Jeep needs to get off the pot and bring the oil burner back here again. I love this diesel way more than I thought I would and don't know about going back to stinky old gas again.

From what I have found, they were firm with a late spring launch, but there are rumors of a huge fall advertising program...

I recently read that Mazada intends to release a diesel powered sedan in the US in 2012 for the "nitch" buyers who prefer diesel :SOMBRERO: And I'm slowly cleaning out my garage so a Mahindra truck will fit in beside my CRD :JEEPIN:

And I have to ask again... Spring or Fall... OF WHAT YEAR? You never have to worry about dashing the hopes of people, as long as you keep moving the goal posts.

Has anyone actually been able to TOUCH a Chevy Volt or drive it around a parking lot without being a member of the press?

Didn't think so.

I can't believe they got their start making Jeeps for GI's. Kinda funny how we've all come full circle isn't it?
