Yes, there seems to be discussion here of both the MAP and the air intake sensor so... The code reader said MAP - barametric presure something or other. And if I understand this right, the MAP is not on the side of the airbox but it it in a rail that runs the length of the head on the drivers side and I need to pull it and clean it. The airflow sensor I did find on the airbox and the wiring seems to be fine... How can I test this?

I'm right there with you to see if this sensor can cause occasional limp. I'm wondering is this is a sensor that needs to be cleaned as well. All the wiring on mine looks fine. My "limp mode" would be defined as no power when accelerating from a stop occasionally, maybe as often as once daily. If I floor it to try and get out of the way, there will be a hard shift in gears. If I shift into neutral and set for a coupla seconds, it might go away and not act up again for several days. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it but I also had the P0069 code as well.

I once put in a K&N filter in a gasser truck. The oil came off the filter and fouled the MAF sensor. Those have little wires that get white hot I believe in order to clean themselves off, but mine was so heavily fouled, that I had to get out the Q Tips and alcohol and carefully scrub the hair like wires. Then, I needed a drink afterwards.

Please avoid confusing the MAF with the MAP, P0069 deals withe the MAP.

On update I wiggled the plug last night and thought I heard a click then this morning the CEL was off so maybe the connection was loose and I reconected it? We'll see.

I'm not confused. I know what they both are. We were talking MAP, then got over to an air flow sensor which is the MAF.

I wasn't saying you were but this thread already got derail once causing the OP (me) much confusion. And no one was talking about the MAF untill u mentioned it. The air sensor mentioned earlier is on the side of the airbox, the MAF is in top of the air intake tube. So you have intruduced the 3rd derailment.

The MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor and the intake air pressure sensor are two different sensors, somehow this thread diverged into two different ones being discussed.

The wiring on the intake pressure sensor is flimsy, it would be easy to dislodge it when changing the air filter. Checking that one is your next stop. If you're standing in front of the Jeep looking at the engine bay, it would be on the right side of the airbox lid.

Actually this thread ended up discussing three sensors; MAP, MAF, and the intake air pressure sensor (the one with the Mercedes symbol) This is the sensor I was wondering whether or not it should be cleaned and if it could cause limp-mode. :5SHOTS:

Sorry, apparently I was confused as well. I doubt those sensors, the MAF and the before mentioned 2nd one need cleaning. But, the MAF plugs into the top of the air filter housing lid where it turns into the tube. I think you are confusing sensor #2 with sensor #3. But yes, do clean sensor #1. Confused??? Sensor #2 and #3 are the same thing. the MAF. On the airbox aka place where you put air filters!!

BVCRD.

Where have you been hiding for the last year or so :SOMBRERO:

CHenry

Back on topic about the MAP sensor. The 06 models have the fuel filter bracket raised for the abs pump. The highter position makes the wiring harness from the engine that goes behind it to rub on a sharp edge of the bracket instead of the rounded area slightly above it. You can keep that from happening by cutting a 3" piece of 5/16" fuel line, slitting it lengthwise and putting it over the bracket :jester:

They just let me out. :pepper: Boy, you poke a little fun at a newb  that trys to preach to the choir about MAP's and such and all hell breaks loose. :furious: :grim: Guess I'll put on my fizzy pink slippers  so that I can walk on all these egg shells. In reality Joe, I've been back, just haven't posted; been over on a Mustang forum. My son has the GT now, so.....I'm back. You know how it is....you eat steak everyday and you get tired of it. Then one day, you wake up and say....I'm hurgry for steak. That sort of thing. :-)r :5SHOTS:

What is it that makes me a newb? The low post count or the fact that i joined this forum a day after you did? I been around awhile, been turning wrenches on diesels awhile too, i just don't have alot to say on here and when i do i don't expect someone to come at me with condescending attitude. You wouldn't do that to me in person i promise, your just a punk hiding behind the keyboard. I understand you have a reputation for this kinda crap so run on back to your mustang site, i'm sure they are missing your worthless dribble.
