I don't think the 7/70 powertrain warranty was ever really a source of debate. The 100K engine warranty, however, is. I guess I'll find out if I ever have to go in for work in the next 24K miles.

It's not really debatable. I went to Jeep.com and clicked on for owners, and then clicked on warranty and put in the model and year. Those warranties are in stone.

Sandstone, maybe. It doesn't matter what they put on a website, legally that holds no weight whatsoever. What holds weight is either a hardcopy declaration that was in the glove box with the owner's manual... (not that much weight) OR hardcopy with your name on it, the warranty statement, and delivered when you got the car.

Unfortunately, NOTHING will hold any weight unless you happen to have a lawyer with you, if the Mopar Computer decides that the information on your hardcopy isn't valid... And changes it electronically. ALL the dealer ever looks at is the VIP report, which is where the electronic records live. Hardcopy of that means nothing without a lawyer, as corporate will do nothing different from what the computer says that you get.

I've never seen anything about a 100k warranty on any of my paperwork, only the 7/70. But since Mopar's computer changed that info... I didn't even get that fully, considering that 3 different dealers and more than a couple service writers all agreed with me that the warranty was there at one time... But the computer said it wasn't, so I got nothing.

I never saw the 100,000 mile warranty, but I did see the lifetime powertrain warranty if you bought it after July 2007, but it never covered the CRD engine, only gassers.

IIRC, it also excluded "commercial" vehicles, the biggest Ram trucks, fleet vehicles, any vehicle used for postal delivery... So basically ONLY vehicles that were for pleasure or single-family use. Nothing that might actually get some work accomplished.

Even better were the requirements to continue to have the "lifetime" warranty: You had to have the vehicle inspected by a dealer every year, I believe that this might have a deductible associated with any repairs... Which you can bet the dealer would find something to get that $100 for... And the best: The inspection had to be within 30 days AFTER the anniversary date - Couldn't get it inspected 30 days before... If you miss... Boom, warranty gone.

I wonder if anyone still is getting serviced on those, since that was a business liability of Daimler Chrysler, who are now dissolved, and all "assets" and no "liabilities" were transferred to Chrysler-Fiat...?

The 7/70 powertrain warranty for the 2006 is inaccurate. There is none. The only exception is if the original 2006 owner took delivery after July 26, 2007. Then, it is covered by a lifetime powertrain warranty. But, even then, it only covers GASSERS and not the CRD.

When we purchased our 2006 CRD as second owner from a Jeep dealer we received a 7/70 powertrain warranty.

It wasn't from the factory. It must have been something the dealer tached on and in the end, you paid extra for.

So that credit card sized piece of plastic which I carry in my wallet is a figment of my imagination?

It has the Jeep logo and "Plan Code PPW880H", "8/80,000 CERT LTD PWRTRN WARR". "Effective Date: 12/05/2005- 12/05/2013 Expiration Mileage 80,000" $100 deductible

Yes, it is. It is an extended warranty that you purchased from the Dealer/Chlysler. It is still good, don't throw it away. It just wasn't part of the original factory basic warranty. You can probably look on your original sales contract and see an arm and a leg tacked on the final cost.

First off years ago there was a sentence found about the diesel engine having a 100,000 mile warranty in one version of the 2006 owner's manual. The sentence read like it was out of place and was supposed to be edited out. If you have that manual and are a lawyer good luck :ROTFL:

In the warranty book it says the warranty for 06 was bumper to bumper 36/36,000 :jester:

The factory does not warranty anything, Chrysler does :jester: Chrysler also offered for an additional charge extended warranties covering different levels of parts for varying mileage and months. If a previous owner bought one it can be transfered to the new owner for a fee.

Forget the Federal emmissions warranty as it covers very little (not much)

I bought the gold version that includes the most items for 7 years/70k miles

What's so hard to understand about this :dizzy:
To the original poster. Call the phone number listed on the letter you got and find out what's available on your vehicle It just might be worth your while.

I think everyone pretty much gets it now. Course, it WILL come up again. It always does.

Maybe a finger and a toe, but not an arm and a leg tacked on. There was no item in the contract for the warranty. I paid a Pittsburgh area Jeep dealer $21.5k in April 07 for a 2006 Limited with 12.5k miles on it. It came with most options except the sunroof. Pacific NW dealers were asking much more.

Hmmm. Maybe you got it for free. That was a good price back then. Crazy how the price in four years has dropped on mine from 26K to 12K. Almost bring tears to your eyes. That only matters to those that plan on trading it in or selling it. If you plan on keeping it till the wheels fall off, makes no difference.

It also matters if you are still forking out for it... Which I are. :5SHOTS:

I got mine for 15k with 33k miles on it in October of 2007. I'm probably right around upside-down on equity b/c it now is almost to 80k, and I'm still on the hook for just more than half that original. Oof. At least I have the payoff insurance if anything happens, but in this credit market... What good does that do me? To say nothing of the big problem: Nobody has a comparable vehicle.

I'd think he would be able to see the charges on his contract. They gotta put them somewhere. They may be built into his payments, (been there done that) but where are they on paper?

That is a Chrysler "Certified Pre-Owned" warranty that they slap on the 2006 MY vehicles to make they more appealing on the used car market and compete with the foreign brands. http://www.certifiedpreowned.chrysler.com/

I found a 2006 Sport CRD in Wisconsin that is currently for sale under this designation. Check it out: http://tinyurl.com/yjuv39g

That makes it a pretty sweet deal. That price isn't bad either coming from a dealer. Probably get it for 12ish...high 12's.
