Those dipsticks always vibrate out, my repair is to squeeze the tube slightly closed with pliers, to keep the dipstick in. As far as fluid goes, get it good and hot, and pull the stick in park, that is the only method to determine the fluid level.

I have mine kind of tucked in under the engine cover and it stays put.

I need to add another symptom: In normal driving, after I come to a complete stop then let off the brake to start accelerating again, there is a clunk in the drivetrain somewhere. I feel it more than hear it. It is more pronounced if I have to stop suddenly, then immediately let my foot off the brake after coming to a complete stop.

Is this maybe the springs in my TC bottoming out?

I think it is your driveshaft releasing and sliding back out of the yoke. It is more than likely dry on the splines. Mine does it too, and quits for 5-8000 miles after I pull the shaft and lube it. Is this the same clunk you were having last year that went away?

X2 on that diagnosis. I've had that same clunk through three torque converters and two pumps.

Yes, it is the same or similar clunk. It feels a little less pronounced than it used to.

Man I hate automatics. . .

I had the same issue with an F150 once. I'd lube it up and it would stop for a while. then it would come back. I wish they had a grease fitting on the yoke.

Linewarbr, did you ever get your tranny problem resolved? I am having similar problems after changing my filters/fluid. Just wanted to know what you found out.
